No ad-mission!

It was a single remark made by Bipasha Basu that got new and aspiring model, Ashra Patel side-lined in the 'Beedi jalai le' Reliance mobile commercial.

Our source says, "The ad's concept was to show Bipasha and Ashra as friends partying and dancing to the 'Beedi jalai le' song. It took only a remark made by Bipasha, where she said, 'Ashra is taller than me! How can we be in the same frame?' to have the ad makers have second thoughts about Ashra's presence in the commercial."

They promptly changed the entire concept of the ad. Although Ashra was asked to get ready with her make-up, hair and costumes, she was made to just wait around on the sets, after Bipasha's comment. The little that was shot with Ashra and Bipasha was shot from such an angle that Bipasha appears taller than Ashra.

The source adds, "However, what Ashra didn't know was that her portion was completely chopped off at the editing table. The ad only shows Bipasha dancing with junior co-dancers! That wasn't the original concept of the ad!"

It is also learnt that Ashra was given the entire script of the ad before she started shooting. "The ad makers had told her that she would be given as much footage as Bipasha in the ad. But, the final version of the ad only features Bipasha," says the source.

When contacted, Chetan, from the production department of the commercial said that such manipulations are common, celebrities often manipulate to be the focus of attention in ads. He said, "Celebrities are very particular about the ads that they do. They even make it a point to time and again look at the monitor to ensure that they stand out in the ad. So it's nothing new."
