Previous female superstarnis could make or break careers and had every filmmaker and actor chasing them to work in their films. They made careers of newbies and even revived careers of flop oldies. Eg., Movies with Sri and MD made Anil's career and movies with Sri revived Jeetendra and gave him string of hits in 80s.

In modern times only Katrina Kaif did something of this sort, as films with her gave string of hits to Akshay Kumar and revived his career and gave hits with newbies like Ranbir and Imran also,

SRK didn't hit big league till DDLJ as far as pay cheque is concerned. He zoomed in further years with hits like Pardes, DTPH, KKHH and became highest earning Bollywood actor of that time by 1999.

Yes in 80s Big B was paid in crores. Sridevi was behind many senior male stars like AB, Jeetendra and Rajesh Khanna even who was declining.

I think this article could be from 1993. Sanju baba's price must have fallen due to jail controversy.

big b was not prominent in the 80s, so sridevi was no.1 superstar of the country. I don't think this has been matched by other actress, being number superstar in a decade is something beyond achievement.

agree. sridevi actually was first actress to come with that complete package. hema was a star but she lacked in acting department. sridevi on the other hand was Bollywood queen to be a sex symbol, beautiful as well as versatile actress with accomplished dancing ability.
