Tell me tell me something I don't know! Something I don't know!

" sanyukta can you lower the volume? Please "

" what's the problem? "

" it's too loud and I want to talk to you "

" ohh in that case "

She pulled out her phone from the USB and plugged in her ear phones.

" sanyukta! Sanyukta! *sighs* "

After a while sanyukta groaned loudly and spoke - why do you want us to go through this again!

" we already had a conversation about it. Your misses you guys a lot and you have to spend time with him"

" but why all summer? Can't it's be for 2-3 days? "

" because 2-3 days are not enough! You haven't seen him for years "

" that's not my fault. He left us "

" but whenever he came to visit you and Nihar! You always went out with your friends and ignored him. "

" just try your best to talk to him nicely. He is a nice man and he really loves you ! "

" yeah that's why he walked out "

She looked in the rear view mirror and asked nihar

" are u excited Nihar? "

" excited? Very excited! This is going to be fun! Super fun "

" thank god you don't have the same attitude as your sister! "

" I just don't know why can't I spend my summer with my friends? "

" oh do you mean why can't you spend you summer in those clubs? I am not naive, I know what happens there "

She wasn't lying. She'd never gotten drunk , she was a Virgin and definitely has not even tried a cigarette!

" can we talk about something else " sanyukta cut in

The rest of the journey went silent. Nihar was looking out of the window when he saw and shouted!

" hey mom! Is that a Ferris wheel? "

" yeah honey! There must be a carnival tonight "

" can we go after dinner? "

" you have to ask your dad! "

" yeah and after that we could go hand and hand to the beach and sit around a bonfire like a big happy family " sanyukta added sarcastically

" and if dad would be scared of going on rides then? "

" I am sure your sister would love to accompany you "

Sanyukta shifted in her seat in her seat! Hard to believe the depressing reality

WIERD TOWN

Sanyukta's pov

The car came to gaily and I noticed that we have reached our destination! I don't remember myself sleeping in the car! Before mom could even unbuckle her seat belt Nihar jumped out of the car and ran towards Vardhan. I mean dad!

" Nihar! I missed you so much champ! You have grown up "

" and you are shrinking! You have become skinny dad "

" I am glad you are here! "

" mom and sanyu were fighting all the time "

" oh that's not fun! "

" hey is that your house? " he asked ruffling his hair

" yeah.. "

" this place is awesome "

Sanyukta and dad looked here and there! They knew that this place was anything but awesome.

" really? "

" there's a beach in the backyard. What else you want? Could I have a look at it? "

" ya sure! But be careful "

Nihar made his way towards the house while maya and sanyukta came closer to him!

" it's good to see you sweet heart! You have grown up " he smiled at his daughter

" I am going to stretch my legs "

She ignored him and went forward. Vardhan looked at maya who sighed helplessly.

" how is she doing? "

" I don't know. I think she doesn't know as well. She is in that lesbian phase. She is most of the time rude with me. I ignored it thinking it was teenage stuff but. You saw how she was dressed right? " she sighed

" hmmm..."

" and ? "

" it could be worse. But it's alright if other girl makes her happy or something. We have to see to it but "

" ohh yeah right "

...

The fair was crowded! As she paid for her soda she saw cars parked bumper to bumper along both the roads. The place was packed. Old and young, families groups ogling each other.

She was wandering around when a girl without seeing bumped into her and spilled her drink all over her!

" are you fine? I am sorry "

" I am fine! " sanyukta snapped

Someone is the crowd began to laugh after seeing her drenched pretty badly.

" are u sure? I kinda bumped into you badly "

" just let me go! " sanyukta spoke through clenched teeth

She distanced herself from that group of people and started damping her short with wet tissue but the tissue was disintegrating into white flakes which resembled dandruff. When I turned around she saw a girl smiling at her.

" what? " she asked

" you are not from here ? " she asked as she came closer

" No. I am from Miami. Visiting my dad here "

" for a week? "

" for the summer "

" ohh that's sucks. Btw I am vidushi! Call me vids "

" sanyukta "

" if u need a shirt I could give you! "

" it would be great! "

She smiled and handed me a tee with the fish Nemo drawn on it. She groaned and went behind the tent and changed quickly. When She came back She saw nihar standing there smirking! How could a small child smirk at her elder sister like that?

" dad is waiting come on! "

" tell him you didn't see me "

" 5 bucks "

" what?? Are u serious? "

" you don't have much time! Now it's ten bucks! "

She saw her dad coming closer so decided to deal with him! He tugged out a note and handed him immediately.

" your secret is safe with me! "

Sanyukta pov

Vids and I chatted for a while and headed back to the carnival. I saw a boy playing with a fireball. God it looked like he was not a human. Didn't is hurt?

" do you know that guy? " I asked

" yeah he is parth! "

Parth Walked towards us and kiss vids so wildly which seemed inappropriate in the public. We introduced ourselves after their long never ending wild kiss.

We sat on a bench nearby and vids went to take some snacks when parth stared at me and asked out of the blue .

" let's go to Florida "

" what? "

He just smirked and I excused my self! I didn't want to stay with him so I went to vids. We were talking when I saw parth fighting with someone. They were hovering each other. Everyone was just seeing them fighting like mad people! Just then I saw a child standing there and crying.

" STOP IT! Knock it off both of you! Can't you see the kid is hurt? " I shouted on top of my lungs

I went up to him and Andes about his mom. When he noticed my tee shirt.

" Nemo also got lost like me "

Just then I saw a lady running towards us and grabbing him in her arms.

" sorry. He just went away. Thank you ! " she was scared

" it's okay! " I said

" LOGGERHEAD TURTLE "

Sanyukta's pov

I woke up with pain in my head! Urgghhh! Last night was shitty! I hate you parth! How dare he tried to touch me? He was asking me to go for a walk with him? Can't he get it that I am not interested in him. I even got irritated with dad last night because of him. He was just concerned about me and I being stupid reacted as if he was confining me or something. I need to talk to him.

End of pov

She got up and fresher up quickly. She came to the backyard of her place and saw her dad sitting on the ground.

"Are you mad at me?" she asked.

It was the first time since she'd been here that she'd spoken to him without a hint of anger or frustration.

"No," he said.
"Not at all."

"Then what are you doing out here?"

He pointed toward the nest. "A loggerhead turtle laid her eggs last night. Have you ever seen one?"

Sanyukta shook her head, and Vardhan went on. "They're beautiful creatures. They've got this reddish-brown shell, and they can weigh up to eight hundred pounds. North Carolina is one of the few places they nest. But anyway, they're endangered. I think only one out of a thousand live to maturity, and I don't want the raccoons to get the nest before they hatch." ( google zindabad!! Lol )

"How would the raccoons even know that a nest is here?"

"When a female loggerhead lays her eggs, she urinates. The raccoons can smell it, and they'll eat every single one of the eggs. When I was young, I found a nest on the other side of the pier. One day everything was fine, and the next day all the shells had been broken open. It was sad."

"I saw a raccoon on our porch the other day."

"I know. It's been getting into the garbage. And as soon as I go in, I'm going to leave a message with the aquarium. Hopefully, they'll send someone by tomorrow with a special cage that'll keep the critters out."

"What about tonight?"

" I guess we're going to have to have faith."

She stared at the nest. With her stomach in knots, she couldn't imagine eating. "I don't want anything to happen to the turtle eggs tonight."

He turned toward her. "So what do you want to do?"

Hours later, after tucking Nihar into bed, He stepped out onto the back porch to check on Sanyukta. Earlier, after he'd left a message at the aquarium, he'd gone to the store to buy what he thought she needed: a light sleeping bag, a camping lantern, a cheap pillow, and some bug spray.

He wasn't comfortable with the idea of Her sleeping outside, but she was clearly determined and he admired her impulse to protect the nest. She'd been insistent that she would be fine, and to some extent, he trusted she was right. Like most people who grew up in Manhattan, she'd learned to be careful and had seen and experienced enough of the world to know it was sometimes a dangerous place. Moreover, the nest was less than fifty feet from his bedroom window"which he intended to keep open"so he was confident he'd hear something if She ran into trouble. Because of the shape of the windblown dune and the location of the nest, it wasn't likely that anyone walking on the beach would even know she was there.

Next morning, she felt major pain in her back! God that wasn't easy. After having some breakfast she went and sat with the nest again. When she came back she spotted someone wearing a beige jumpsuit advertising Blake-lee Brakes, carrying a roll of yellow tape and a bunch of sticks. He seemed to be walking up the beach toward the house.

the man came closer, hunting around the dune. She started toward him, wondering what he was doing, and then he turned in her direction. When their eyes met, it was one of the few times in her life that she actually felt tongue-tied.

She recognized him immediately, despite the uniform. He was present there in the carnival that day! She was gawking him all the time when he was playing volleyball.

Coming to a halt in front of her, he didn't seem to know what to say, either. Instead, he just stared at her.

"Hey, it's you," he said. "Good morning."

Oh man! He too noticed her. She wasn't sure what to think, other than to question the friendly tone.

"What are you doing here?" she asked.

"I got a call from the aquarium. Someone called last night to report a loggerhead nest, and they asked me to come here to check it out."

"You work for the aquarium?"

He shook his head. "I just volunteer there. I work at my dad's brake shop. You wouldn't happen to have seen a turtle nest around here, would you?"

She felt herself relax a little. "It's over there," she said, pointing.

"Hey, that's great." He smiled. "I was hoping it was near a house."

"Why?"

"Because of storms. If the waves wash over the nest, the eggs won't make it."

"But they're sea turtles."

He raised his hands. "I know. It doesn't make sense to me, either, but that's the way nature works. Last year, we lost a couple of nests when a tropical storm came through. It was really sad. They're endangered, you know. Only one out of a thousand live to maturity."

"Yeah, I know."

"You do?" He sounded impressed.

"My dad told me."

"Oh," he said. He motioned down the beach with a friendly wave. "I take it you live around here?"

"Why do you want to know?"

"Just making conversation," he answered easily. "My name's Randhir, by the way."

"Hi, Randhir."

He paused. "Interesting."

"What?"

"Usually when someone introduces himself, the other person does the same."

"I'm not most people." She crossed her arms, careful to keep her distance.

"I already figured that out." He flashed a quick smile.

She knew he was trying to flirt. She knew she wasn't his type. She motioned to the items he was holding, thinking it was probably better to get back to the subject at hand. "How is that tape supposed to keep the raccoons away?"

"It doesn't. I'm just here to mark the nest. I run the tape around the dowels so the guys who do put up the cage know where to find the nest."

"When are they going to put it up?"

"I don't know." He shrugged. "Maybe in a couple of days."

She thought about the agony she'd experienced upon waking, and she began to shake her head.

"No, I don't think so. You call them and tell them that they have to do something to protect the nest today. Tell them I saw a raccoon last night hovering around the nest."

"Did you?"

"Just tell them, okay?"

"As soon as I'm finished, I'll make sure to call. I promise."

She squinted up at him, thinking that was too easy, but before she could dwell on it further, her dad stepped onto the back porch.

" sweetheart," her dad called out.

Randhir looked from Sanyukta to her dad and back again.

"You live here?"

Instead of answering, she took a step backward. "Just make sure you tell the people at the aquarium, okay?"

She started back toward the house and had stepped onto the porch when she heard Him call out.

"Hey!"

She turned.

"You didn't tell me your name."

"No," she answered. "I don't suppose I did."

As she headed for the door, she knew she shouldn't look back, but she couldn't help stealing a quick peek over her shoulder.

When he raised an eyebrow, she kicked herself mentally, glad that she hadn't told him her name.

In the kitchen, her dad was standing over a frying pan at the stove, stirring with a spatula. On the counter beside him lay a packet of tortillas, and Ronnie had to admit that whatever he was making smelled terrific. Then again, she hadn't eaten since yesterday afternoon. After having coffee with her dad she went to the beach and met Vidushi.

" you have to tell the police what you did vids! "
