It's been over a year that Sayantani Ghosh packed up bag and baggage and moved to Mumbai from Kolkata. But the svelte actress with big beautiful eyes still misses home.
"That's because I'm a very family person . Even when I get four or five days off from work here, I fly to Kolkata," says Sayantani and adds with a smile. "Mumbai is work, Kolkata is home."
The audience recognises Sayantani as Kakul from SaharaOne's Ghar Ek Sapna . But in her home town, she is also known as a film actress.
"Yes, that's true," she says, "I have done a few Bengali films with some top heroes there. But I do very selective projects there as I have to give my serial priority."
So why is Sayantani pursuing television here when she can stay in Kolkata and do more films? "The medium has never been my concern.
Even when I came to Mumbai, I had no plans in mind. I just wanted to evolve as an artist. And even though I was doing Bengali films, that was regional .
And I think TV has now become a huge medium. TV stars are equally recognised and respected," she says. Bollywood is surely on her mind. "I will definitely try my hand at films here but I won't have any qualms if I'm not able to do a Hindi film. I'm not that desperate!" she laughs.
At the moment, it is her track in Ghar Ek Sapna that is keeping her on her toes. "My role is not just of another lead who keeps crying.

Now, my character is standing up for her rights and even I identify with her. Just like Kakul, I have my own sweet way of fighting without insulting or arguing with someone ," she smiles.
