This post inspired Piya's reference to the rainbow and is based on colour psychology
The Rainbow Cast of KY2
Red is the colour that envelopes the rainbow. Some of the qualities associated with this colour are energy, excitement, action, pioneering spirit, leadership, ambition, determination, will power and confidence. It is also the colour of passion, awakening love and sex on the positive side or revenge and anger on the negative. Needless to say this colour has Manik written all over it and like the rainbow he envelopes all the other members into his fold.
Orange is the colour next to the red. It radiates warmth and happiness, combining the physical energy and stimulation of red with the cheerfulness of yellow. It offers emotional strength in difficult times and helps people to bounce back from disappointments and despair, assisting in recovery from grief. It also brings spontaneity and a positive outlook on life always encouraging one to see the brighter side of life. Now can there be any doubt that orange accurately describes Nandu? As in the rainbow, she is close to red (Manik) and Cabir (yellow).
Yellow is the colour that is uplifting and illuminating, offering hope, happiness, cheerfulness and fun. It also inspires original thought and inquisitiveness and creates an enthusiasm for life, awakening greater confidence and optimism. Now that is Cabir for you. He is the most perceptive of the lot, and also the most cheerful, even though his own life is in a mess.
Green is the colour of growth, renewal and rebirth. It is an emotionally positive colour, with the ability to love and nurture oneself and others unconditionally. A natural peacemaker, it is generous and loves to share, but it also looks for recognition. It is friendly and can keep confidences. On the negative, the color green can be possessive and materialistic, with a need to own people and things. Isn't that what Dhruv is? Initially starting off as a shy selfless guy who the calming force in the volatile Fab 5, he is now under a transition as he is growing. His possessiveness and need to assert himself is slowly taking over him.
Blue is associated with inflexibility when faced with a new or different idea; it considers it, analyses it, thinks it over slowly and then tries to make it fit its own acceptable version of reality. It is nostalgic, living mostly in the past, relating everything in the present and the future to experiences in the past. This has Alya written all over it. Her inability to leave past where it belongs is creating problems in her love life with Dhruv.
Right below the blue in a rainbow is indigo, a dramatic colour, which, during times of stress becomes the drama queen, making a mountain out of a molehill. It is also a colour of devotion. As structure creates identity and meaning for indigo, absence of a structure throws them right off balance. On the negative side, indigo is associated with narrow-mindedness, intolerance and prejudice. It also connotes addiction, including drug abuse. Now this has to be Mukti. Her inability to accept the changes in the structure of Fab 5 often pushes her on the brink. She had a serious case of drug abuse and her prejudice against Nandu is well known. We now see her devotion to a dying man, as a desperate attempt to hold on to something good.
Violet denotes spiritualism. It encourages creative pursuits and seeks inspiration and originality through its creative endeavours. It also is associated with day dreaming and need to escape from the practicalities of life. Isn't this Navya, the deeply religious girl with immense talent and dreams of making it big in the big town, now sadly lost in her way and refusing to confront the practicalities of her present state?
So we have our very own rainbow in this show, each colour having its own vibrancy although most of us are more enamoured by the outer rings of red and orange, viz., Manik and Nandini.
