What truly scared me "I try and stay away from horror movies because if I don't, they stay with me for days. My husband and I had got the DVD for Blair Witch Project one night and I had to keep leaving the room every 10 minutes for three minutes and ask if that scene was over.
It was so scary because it seemed like a real story, shot by students on their digicam. I had loose motions after the movie! I didn't sleep for many nights after that.
From The Exorcist: |
You never really saw the witch in the movie so your imagination plays tricks on you. But when you put an image to it, it may not be as scary."
What didn't "I thought the first three fourths of Bhoot was scary, but the proportions it reached in the last fourth made it farcical. Urmila did a fantastic job in the movie.
Towards the end, however, it lost its sting."

What truly scared me "The Blair Witch Project was really scary! I watched it alone at 11 pm at night. You start hallucinating ki kamre ke bahar kaun hai. You start believing it and it starts playing with your mind, even if it's just for a night. It was more believable than the other horror movies I've seen. Of course at the end of it, I went and slept. Life is more scary than a supernatural bhoot."
What didn't "With all their sound effects and camera movement – most of our movies here try TOO hard. I just can't sit through the Hollywood B Grade movie either. I was disappointed with Sam Raimi's third or fourth film; I think it was Within the Woods. With a movie like that, I just switch off the DVD."

What truly scared me "It's got to be The Ring, followed closely by Final Destination. The Ring was a great film — an intelligent scary movie. It wasn't just a horror movie, but more of a thriller with suspense. The unpredictability was the scary part. I watched at Sterling with friends – the 5 pm show. We talked about it for two hours after. No one wanted to watch TV or answer the phone for a while after that."
What didn't "Were Scream I, Scream II and Urban Legend supposed to be scary? They didn't scare me at all. They were just lousy films. But I watched the entire film; I don't generally stop watching midway. I kept thinking 'What is it about?' By the time it was done, I wondered why did I waste my time watching this?"

What truly scared me "I loved horrors as a child – Purana Mandir, Veerana, my sister and I used to collect all of them at that time. I loved Ramsay movies. Whatever we saw of ghosts and bhoots were from them. We loved them because at that time, we weren't exposed to better. I was a kid when I watched Veerana – that was scary! I still remember the hot heroine in it, 'Nakiiitaaaa'. She seduced people and then turned into a bhoot.
What didn't "Exorcist was the one film that didn't scare me at all – by then, I was used to horrors. In fact, I was more frightened by Evil Dead."

What truly scared me "The Exorcist really scared me. I was around eight years old, and one day, I rented the film on videotape without my mother's permission. I saw the film with my friends. Later, I got a severe scolding for it from my mother, but the damage was done. The film really, really frightened me. It affected me for a whole year in various ways – I got nightmares, insomnia, the works. I remember the entire film, scene by scene, even now, and I've never seen it again."
What didn't "I saw Bhoot, and though it wasn't a bad film at all, I didn't come out spooked. I'm just not affected by horror films any more, I think
