' Never stop flirting with your husband', says Adita. Your first crush... Tom Cruise. For the longest time as a child, I was madly in love with Tom Cruise. I had life size posters of him from all his movies and I remember each one would cost upto 300 bucks and that would be my entire pocket money spent on him! Ha ha.. I even thought one day I will marry him. Your first date... Hmmm probably in the ninth grade. We always hung around in a group but this was the first time I went for dinner with a boy alone! It was a very early dinner as we had deadlines. I remember the entire gang knew about it including my brother. When I arrived (again all my friends dropped me there) the moment I walked in the live band played my favourite song (I think it was Beautiful in my eyes) the table was full of flowers and candles. I think it was a perfect first date- just like a page out of the mushy love stories. Your idea of a perfect date... Good ambience and excellent conversation. Everything else is secondary — nothing better than a stimulating conversation. And if possible, some live music. What qualities do you look for in a man? Not too many, but yes most importantly he should love me unconditionally, should be intelligent and well-read, a good listener, passionate about his work, adventurous, innocent eyes, a mischievous smile, a great sense of humour. Oops did I say not too many?! What was your first relationship like? Heaven on earth. It taught me about everything I know today — friendship love and relationships. Also it shaped up a large part of who I am today. What do you think about lust versus love? Both are natural feelings and interdependent, though lust can last even without love! What is romance to you? A special feeling in your heart that comes naturally when you are with that someone special. It's not about doing special things, instead it's just the normal things you do together that feel so special. And the most romantic thing for me would be to be 85 years old and maybe toothless and ugly but still be able to hold my husband's hand and walk in the rain. Guess the monsoons are affecting my thoughts! Who'd you like to get dirty with on an island? My hubby... who else? Don't wanna get killed! Your thoughts on the institution of marriage? It might be possible to connect mind, body and soul with someone without marriage, but marriage brings with it a sense or security and calm which makes you stronger and more resilient to the ups and downs of life. Together you become a force to reckon with. It acts as a support system especially since in India marriage is not only between two individuals, but between two families. And my favourite quotes on this are 'Marriage may be made in heaven, but the maintenance has to be done on earth' and 'Never stop dating your wife and never stop flirting with your husband'. And infidelity? It's a personal choice and so each to their own, but for me it's inexcusable no matter what the situation or provocation. |
