Part 23
Geet sat in her room feeling all blushy and mushy as she recalled their hug, and all he did to calm her that day, n more of how she said confessed her love to him.
Uff, she hid her face in the pillow blushing badly, it was her mehendi and sangeet tomorow followed by marriage the next day, she couldn't believe she would come so far with her feelings in a short span of just 20 days... Given that hungama before and on their engagement (i hope u remember that, or need a reminder?).
She was still recalling their moments together, and just then her cell rang up.
She knew it was him, but she felt too shy to pick the call, it was 2 days to that incident but they couldn't talk after that being busy in marriage preparations at their sides.
Phone was ringing continuously and she was approaching it very slowly, she held it but couldn't gather enough courage to pick the call and talk to him with her current state knowing he may just guess her plight with her high heartbeats and short breaths.
Maan: itna time lagta hai phone pick karne me?
As soon as she picked the call he busted out, she got startled for a moment n he regretted his high tone.
'Woh mai...'
Both spoke out together, trying to explain their side; silence followed then, she bit her lower lip in, while he rested on bed post, in a comfortable position.
Maan: itna late kyu pick kiya phone?
He spoke in a soft tone this time, breaking the silence between them.
Geet: umm...
Maan: batao Geet
Geet: na... You'll laugh on me
Maan: abb ye kya baat hui, ager hasne wali baat hogi toh hassi aaegi hi na...
She pouted on his teasings, while he smiled at her cute antics.
Maan: achha mat batao... Thik hai?
Geet now lied on bed and hid inside her comforter...
Geet: wo... I was feeling shy after our... Umm after that day
She corrected it immediately not wanting to give any wrong signals š, blood rushed to her cheeks making them hot and red.
While he for a moment didn't understand her fast forwarded sentence, the sound of her breath n heartbeats over the phone helped him knowing her state. He smiled, feeling special, and realizing depth of her emotions; but the silence need to be broken, and a naughty thought came up.
Maan: waise Geet ye bahut jaldi nhi ho gaya?
He spoke up suddenly which she didn't seem to gather due to her blushy state.
Geet: umm?
Came her confused reply to which he added.
Maan: i mean ki it's two days ago, u said i love u and i kissed n hugged u, and you are feeling shy now, that too over the phone?
He spoke out casually, and her jaws fell open wide; she blushed more if that was possible and hid her face in pillow.
There was silence after that, he kept smiling on her plight, while she was too lost to answer.
Maan: achha ab bas bhi karo
He spoke to break the silence, then they continued chatting random things for some time, when suddenly she said something serious...
Geet: can i not change my last name after marriage?
A silence followed, he wasn't sure if he heard right, while she feared his reactions. She didn't know where that came from all of a sudden; but it surely felt like this thing was in back of her mind since long and just came out at a wrong, or rather right moment, who knows?
Geet: umm... Maan?
She called him, to break the silence; still no reply. She was in the verge of crying now; but felt the need to explain her point' so she continued...
Geet: u understand na... It's my identity; since birth i have been addressed like that, and all of a sudden it will change. This is something i never liked about getting married...
She stopped not able to say more; even her mind seem to defy her with wrong words for her right feelings, there was definitely no logic behind it, just a state of mind, something to hold onto when her own house where she spent 25 years of her life would all of a sudden be called as maayka, where she will be just a guest; while she will own everything equally with the man, her husband.
Geet: pls say something.
She continued feeling choaked not hearing any reaction from him; definitely she didn't want to spoil his mood at this moment so close to their marriage.
Maan let a deep breath out; and finally spoke out after hearing her choaking voice...
Maan: hmm... Geet! Honestly i do not agree with your thoughts about this, nor do i like it.
Her breath hitched with his words, many emotions rushed in; this was the first time their thoughts conflicted on any matter; as far as she knew he was quite cool a person, given the way he took that HIV test incident; but now she couldn't understand his reaction.
Nevertheless for her, it was just that she wanted to share her mind with him, and let him decide; she had already told him earlier, what he thinks right matters more to her than what she herself finds right; and so she was about to say let's end the discussion here and they will go on as per he thinks what is right for them, but before she could open her mouth she heard him continue...
Maan: but i will never force you into something that you do not like.
The breath she held till now came out but making her more confused this time; while he continued...
Maan: I know what's going in your mind; also that you will never refuse if i say no, but when we are at this first step to our new relationship i want to tell you that in this relation we both share equal responsibilities as well as rights, and that, whatever we do affects both of us; and so i do not want you or me, to do anything under any pressure or influence; ye toh dil se hona chahiye na. And i will wait for the day when your heart accepts that and you accept my name fully.
She heard him patiently and nodded. Her all doubts cleared now; she felt ashamed even for a second to think he will not understand her; truth is she is not able to understand yet the depth with which he has accepted her and their relation, maybe she is still immature for relation like this but then no one is a master at the first time itself. Though it was her who has verbally confessed love for him but at every moment it was him who has proved his love to her; and maybe that's the reason she never craved for those three words at least not yet!
Maan: Geet... Geet!!! Kaha kho gayi?
Geet: uhh... Ji
Maan: ab uss baare me sochna band karo and sleep; kal se marriage rituals start honge; and you will not get proper rest for a week or so.
Geet: usse pehle kuchh puchhna tha...
Maan: hmm... Bolo
Geet: how is it that you can solve all my problems in seconds...
He smiled at her question. One big jhalli she is; always taking big tensions for petty issues. She needs to understand that she can relax; he is there to take all such necessary or unnecessary tensions, but for now she needs to smile.
Maan: simple hai... Its bcoz i am your teacher.
He replied in such serious tone that she went in thoughts for a second.
Geet: umm... Hmm
And frowned next second hearing him laugh loud; simultaneously making her aware about his joke.
She smiled too
Geet: i had never thought you can joke so much.
Maan: achha... Wo kyu
Geet: umm... You used to be so serious types na.
Maan: well... Sach toh ye hai Geet ki ab se pehle koi tha hi nahi meri life me jiske saath i can joke around, chat late night, say anything, in short live freely; there would always be a fear of getting judged and so that fake mask; though i had mom always available for me but there's always a limiting line to the stuff you can share with your mom specially being a guy.
Parr jab se tum meri zindagi me aayi ho; trust me it has changed... I have changed, and i like... No i love this change.
Blood rushed in onto her cheeks making them deep red as her mind registered his words; she was all silent not knowing what to speak just hearing how much she meant in his life made her happy, proud. He was well aware of her predicament, and silently enjoyed the silent until their sweet moment was disturbed by sound.
Geet: what is that?
Maan: shayad kisi ka call waiting hai.
He replied unsure;
Geet: and who is that calling you so late in the night.
Came her wife-like bossy tone
Maan: I need to check to know that myself.
And looked at his mobile screen and frowned seeing Rahul calling.
Geet: kya hua
She asked as he wasn't back into the call yet.
Maan: tumhare bhai ka call hai.
She was confused.
Geet: but why would Yash call you now.
Maan: Rahul ka...
Geet: oh... And by the way he's your friend too... Don't start to taunt like a husband just yet!
She snapped at him.
Maan: and its fair enough when you start investigating like a wife.
He replied back in same tone; surely it was the disruption from that call that made them fight while in mid of sharing their hearts. Just as she was about to reply that sound repeated.
Maan: not my phone this time.
He clarified; and she checked her cell to find Pari calling.
Geet: Pari ka call hai... I am picking; will call you back aap bhi bhaiya se puchh lo koi kaam hoga shayad.
They cut the call and now Geet was talking to Pari and Maan with Rahul.
(ok; for this conversation, Maan is talking to Rahul and Geet to Pari; while their lines are same, I mean what Geet speaks to Pari and what Maan speaks to Rahul is same and vice-versa for the replies of Rahul n Pari)
Geet: itni raat ko kyu call kiya?
Pari(st): isne toh phone utha liya; i was just trying to disturb their romantic call... Abb kya bahana banau?
Maan: ab kuchh bol bhi.
Rahul gave a foolish smile and spoke
Rahul: arre tu soya nahi abhi tak; its way past your sleeping time.
Geet: itni raat ko sirf ye puchhne k liye call kiya ki if i am sleeping or awake?
Geet spoke exasperated.
Pari: nahi Geet wo just to ask ki teri sab shopping ho gai kya shadi ki.
She made up something else immediately.
Maan: ye sawal morning me bhi kiya ja sakta hai; uske liye raat ko 1 baje call karne ki zarurat nahi thi.
Maan snapped at him. And smelling trouble Rahul started his EA (emotional attyachar)
Rahul: haan bhai, now you are too busy to talk to someone one like me; i better take appointment before calling next time.
Geet: dekh Pari aisa kuchh nahi hai.
She tried explaining seeing her getting senti.
Pari: its ok Geet, i understand yarr... It's completely fine.
She faked and danced in her head enjoying troubling her.
Maan: actually wo i was talking with Geet; n your call came in between so i felt frustrated.
He elaborated finally; and Rahul laughed on him not loud but mentally.
Rahul(st): kya hoga iska; he didn't understand this small prank and blurted out he was talking to Geet... Iske saath toh prank karna bhi bekar hai.
Rahul: its ok Maan you continue; i'll keep. Bye gn tc.
He spoke hurriedly and cut the call.
Maan was confused with his behaviour but then shrugged off, looking at the time he decided to sleep and let her sleep too; so he msged her gn and both slept off.

Here at Rahul/Pari's place (their thoughts are ALMOST similar; so I am using both of them though they are at their own places and not together)
Rahul hit his hand on his head and it hurt.
Rahul: ouch...!! But I deserve this for not knocking sense into this idiot before; I mean look at him... 2 din me shadi hai and do not know R of Romance. It wouldn't be a surprise if they both spent their first night studying the new budget. (ok guys remember the last year budget came in July; and rest take it as imagination š)
Pari: no!! She shreaked in horror on her own thoughts; I need to do something and make her aware about this
And she blushed herself... uff! It's difficult to talk such stuff specially with someone as jhalli as Geet.
Pari: maybe I can talk to aunty; aur baaki friends kab kaam aayenge if aunty is too busy.
She made a plan immediately.
Rahul: I need to manage that myself; but it's more difficult at this point as he is going to marry none other than my sister. God!! Why me??
He let out a frustrated sigh and went to sleep.
Precap: maaneet getting the real marriage gyan?? Or is it Rahul-pari banging their heads on wall!!
