Prime-time heartbreaker Ronit Roy is small screen's acknowledged TRP-grabber . At a time when women protagonists rule eyeballs and steal the thunder in family dramas, Ronit has made his mark as television's ruling superstar . It's a slot that's not easy to maintain, but one that Ronit has held on to for close to six years now.

And yet, the Ahmedabadborn actor claims he's not quite satisfied. For an actor always wants "more work, new work - across sectors."

Ronit is one of Bollywood's successful exports to television. Not that the soapbox was Ronit's first choice. After tasting box-office success in Jaan Tere Naam , Ronit faced commercial disaster in a slew of forgettable flicks. Surprisingly, Ronit doesn't quite regret his 70 mm trek. "I don't regret anything. What films did not give me, I got from TV. Television has treated me very, very well," he says candidly.

Ronit has seen the growth of Indian television from close quarters. "If you call this growth, you'll be shocked in the next two years," he exclaims . Why? "There'll be a drastic change. TV will see new elements, players, programming, different shows, drama series, action series, even films will be made just for television ."

Will this revolution see him don a new hat as well? "Not as of now. I'm already an actor and a businessman. I run my own security agency. But there will be some changes in the next six months to one year. May be I will dabble in another business, but I can't talk about all that right now," he says.

The one constant in his professional life has been his picture-perfect relationship with soap queen Ekta Kapoor who's given him tailor-made roles, ensuring instant superstardom, in cult dailies such as Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and now Kasamh Se . But what about those reports that Ekta was miffed with Ronit when he chose to star in Sarrkar ?

There's a tinge of discomfort in his voice as he says, "I don't like talking about that phase. Whatever I did, I did with Ekta and Shobha Kapoor's permission . But I regret doing it nevertheless." Does working with one particular producer limit his creative ability? "Such camps were always there on TV. And really, where are the other shows? I work 16 hours a day, 30 days in a month, with very little time for anything else.

I'm a part of the three biggest shows of the top production firm in the country. Why would I want to relinquish that position?" asks Ronit. A dual life as an actor and a businessman can get hectic for many, but Ronit says he always finds time for his family: "I don't have too many friends, nor do I go out too much until and unless it's really important, I'm almost unsocial that way."

A family man, Ronit is now married to Neelam and has two daughters, Aadore and Ona (from his first marriage). "Whenever I wrap up early or start work late in the mornings, I take my daughter to school and pick her back. They even come to my shoots and spend time with me in my van," says the doting dad. Ronit's also the perfect sibling to younger brother, Rohit. So, they must discuss work at home? "Not at all. Rohit is an intelligent man, he doesn't need any advice," he signs off.
