FIA's exciting plans for 27th Annual India Day Parade

New York: The Federation of Indian Association (FIA) announced its grand plans to go above and beyond previous years to celebrate the 60th anniversary of India's Independence with the 27th India Day Parade on August 19. The plans were revealed at a press conference hosted by Globosat Entertainment at its studios in Long Island City on July 31. "Over 35 floats and more than 40 booths were sold out in just one week. We are extremely thrilled to see such support and excitement for this year's parade," said Shobhana Patel, president of FIA. FIA publicity chair, Sudhir Vaishnav announced that along with grand marshal Priyanka Chopra and chief guest Johnny Lever, NASA Astronaut Sunita Williams has joined the list of guests of honor that are attending. Heightening the excitement of the evening was the announcement for the addition of Reena Kapoor, who plays Pari in the Sahara One hit drama Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki. The chairpersons of the committees for float, parade, banquet and reception shared new and exciting plans for the parade during the press conference. Special events chair Albert Jasani said that the gala banquet dinner at Royal Albert Palace on August 20, will be done in a special manner this year with a sit-down dinner for all guest. The gala banquet will be emceed by Reena Kapoor. Sponsors were recognized and thanked by Sudhir Vaishnav. The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) of the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, is one of the largest umbrella organizations of the Indian community. Representing over 300,000 Asian-Indians, who provide significant grassroots support, the organization has become a leader of its kind in the community. The press conference was organized and managed by Mediamorphosis Inc.
