Why the sudden surge in Two hero/ Multi star movies?

Two reasons:

1. Audiences are tired of mindless action/comedy solo hero flicks of Khans and Kumar (of course there is still a market for that). But most people want better stories. Two or more lead roles = more genres and more angles to explore in a story

2. Newer generation of actors don't have ego clashes and hang-ups working with each other. Plus there are so MANY of them now, so a two-hero movie will have more pull at the box office than a solo newbie release.

Yes newer stars have less ego and insecurity, they also charge less. So more viable option than a single big star who controls all aspects of film and demands huge profit share.

Multi starrers with new guys is economical star power and safe bet for producer.

Yes newer stars are open to two hero projects and seem to have lesser ego issues. It would be intersting to see if they are able to maintain this attitude 5-6 years down the line when each one would have established his own fan base and carved a niche for himself.
