"Engagement is to tell the world that right now we are promised to get married. I have not reached that place in my life," says Ranbir Kapoor.
Ranbir Kapoor tries hard to guard his personal life and hence has decided not to speak about it in public. He, thereby, refuses to spill the beans about his relationship with actress Katrina Kaif, but goes on to confirm that he is not engaged.
In an interview to Times of India, when asked whether he is engaged to lady-love Katrina, he categorically denies the statement and says, "No, I am not engaged. Engagement is to tell the world that right now we are promised to get married. I have not reached that place in my life. I really wished that tabloids, magazines and news channels stop making conjectures about that as it spoils the spontaneity of it when it finally happens."

He further adds how vehemently he tries to protect his personal life. "I am trying to guard my personal life and live a life that is apart from my movie life and out of public eye. If I have to get engaged, I can't hide that. I want to have a family, have children. So, when I get engaged, I will certainly announce it," he quips.

Ranbir Kapoor is awaiting the release of Vikramjit Singh's Roy' and Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet'. He will soon start shooting for Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, in which he shares screen space with Aishwarya Rai and Anushka Sharma. In another report published in Times of India, Ranbir, when asked about being cast with Aishwarya Rai, says, "I knew Aishwarya since I was a child, as I was an assistant in my father's film Aa Ab Laut Chalein'. I was only 15 then and in Class X, but Aishwarya and me struck a friendship. We would chat about her and her life and she would treat me her age. She would treat me like a friend and not like a child and was good to me. Even now, she is exactly the way she was then. There is nothing that has changed about her."

Ranbir is currently busy shooting for Anurag Basu's Jagga Jasoos', co-starring Katrina Kaif and Imtiaz Ali's Tamasha' opposite ex-girlfriend Deepika Padukone.
