Wingardium Leviosa it was! And here I was banging my head thinking what was handy and long..

Great riddle Anjali.. Was really confusing.. Maybe the explanation will clear it up for me..

Ans .Levitation Charm(Wingardium Leviosa)

I'm handy but quite long

And one of the first of my kind you'd come across.

Levitation charm is one of the commonly used to charm and it is very useful in making objects fly.It works on everything except humans.The incantation ,'Wingardium Leviosa' is one of the lengthiest when spelt.It is one of the first spell learnt by any young witch or wizard at Hogwarts and the first charm introduced in the books.

Many others could serve my purpose,

But I remain the original and the best.

Levitation charm has a number of variations like Hover charm and Floating charm,but it preferred over its counterparts as it is more convenient to use.

I'm not exactly a cakewalk to most,

Because I can put your skill and patience to test.

Though it is one of the first spells taught,mastering it takes skill and patience.In Harry potter's year only Hermione could master it in their first Charm class.

Yet one sailed through me.>> Hermione.

I made disagreement between two people worse,

But I helped them finally dissolve their grudge.

Hermione's attempt to teach Ron the spell made the already existing friction between them worse.Later, Ron used this spell effectively against a Troll saving Hermione and gaining her friendship.

This was what you wrote in a rush! If you had time then I wonder how tough that will be.. And it does make sense.. I was confused but now all that is cleared up!

If there isn't anyone else, I would love posting one.. Gotta come up with one though..

Though dark as dark can be
