Saif-Nikhil Film Postponed?
Last year, Nikhil Advani announced his directorial outing with Saif Ali Khan, with whom he made his directorial debut in Kal Ho Na Ho. A source close to the film reveals, "The film was to go on the floors in mid-2015 but with two of his projects releasing this year, the makers decided to postpone this film to early next year. It's an intense drama and a strong love story. The first draft is ready but Nikhil will start concentrating on his yet untitled with Saif only after he is done with his two directorials, Hero and Katti Batti."
Now Dangal, Later Robot 2
There was a lot of speculation about Aamir Khan meeting director Shankar and whether the actor would be doing his next, a sequel to his superhit film Robot. Now a source close to the actor reveals, "Finally, Khan has said yes to Shankar for Robot 2 and the shoot should start by early next year. He has to don a totally new look for Robot 2, something never seen in India's film history."
Khan, a perfectionist, was recently spotted with a salt-and-pepper beard and the near-bald look for his next Nitesh Tiwari's Dangal, a biopic based on famous wrestler from Haryana, Mahavir Phogat. As Box Office India had reported, this will be a 100-minute film shot in one straight schedule. After that, Khan will gear up for Robot 2.
PS: While Rajinikanth will be playing the leading man, Aamir Khan will play the baddie i.e, Robot.
SSR To Don Three Looks
Sushant Singh Rajput, also known as a perfectionist, will be donning three looks for his upcoming film MS Dhoni - The Untold Story. As is evident from his current appearance, one of his looks demands long hair. It was a look Dhoni wore in the initial part of his career. Interestingly, the makers have decided to go in for a bald look for Rajput, and the actor has agreed as he believes in perfection and fully getting into the character.
The bald look will be shot during the last schedule of the film and will be kept under wraps. Dhoni had shaved his head after winning the World Cup for spiritual reasons, as reported by the media.
Airlift To Roll
Akshay Kumar is in no mood to take a breather. Close on the heels of his recently released film Baby, which fetched him laurels both critically as well as commercially, the actor is all set to hit the grind yet again, for his next film directed by Raja Menon. Come February 20, and he along with leading lady Nimrat Kaur will be heading towards the arid regions of Bhuj in Gujarat to begin shooting the lavishly mounted entertaining edge-of-the-seat thriller.
While this will be the actor's first outing with Kaur, the producers of Baby - T-Series, Cape of Good Films and Crouching Tigers - will see him through this film too.
Producer Bhushan Kumar says, "The audience loved Akshay Kumar and his character in Baby and, with Airlift, they see him stronger, more confident and larger than life. The film shoot, which starts next month, will be grand and, keeping the concept of the film in mind, will be authentic. The team has put in a lot of time to get the right looks, locations and production design in place, to start rolling next month."
Long Title No Way'
That's precisely what Divya Khosla Kumar thought when looking for a title for her upcoming film Sanam Re. Apart from intensive prep for the pre-production, Khosla has spent days deciding on a title. In fact, she has registered as many as 10 titles! Initially, she liked the ring of Tere Liye Hum Hain Jiye' as she felt it suited the plot.
"I was in love with this title but I realised it was too long and short and crisp' is the marketing funda. So we decided on Sanam Re," says Divya Khosla Kumar.
On the film, she says, "We recently finished our first schedule in Shimla, where we captured some virgin locations. As a director, I feel it's my responsibility to show hidden locations within our country."
Sanam Re features Pulkit Samrat, Yami Gautam and Urvashi Rautela but Khosla says it's not a love triangle. "It's a love story and a human drama. I would call it classical romance, says Khosla, adding that she had Samrat in mind while writing the script. Scheduled to release by the end of the year, the next schedule will take place in Mumbai. After that, the star cast leaves for Canada for the last schedule.
Next Is Chopstick
After C Kkompany and Kyaa Super Kool Hai Hum, director Sachin Yardi is all set with his next comedy titled Chopstick. Wingspan Motion Pictures has signed Yardi for the film. A source close to the production house reveals, "At present, they are locking the final draft. It will be a never-seen-before comedy, which will be shot entirely in Mumbai. Casting is underway as the makers are looking for some A' list actors."
Guess Who?
This director had a reputation but neither of his films was able to wow the box office. But he won accolades, all the same, and decided to make his next a costlier project and roped in a big name. But since this big name delivered a few back-to-back duds, this director decided to replace him with another budding actor and one who had delivered successful films, one after another. Everything was okay and the film was to mount the sets but there was another hitch.
This time, the leading man (not the one who was shown the door but the one who was welcomed for his successes) thought the script did not make any sense so he asked the director to rework it.
Well, the reason, we're told, is the actor who's been delivering successful films doesn't want to work with a director who only earns accolades but whose films don't do well at the ticket counter. Ooof, yeh toh boomerang ho gaya!
