"Kapil sir, u have been assigned a new partner for this season." The Sony tv channel employee informed Kapil Sharma,winner of past couple of seasons of Comedy Circus, with a mixture of fear and excitement. It was the 1st rehearsal for the new season, 'Kahani comedy circus ki'.

Kapil always had to act with new partners,no one ever seemed to match his energy and acting prowess. Whereas other jodis were permanent. He didn't like this fact, it felt like a disadvantage to him. He sighed. "Who is it?"he asked. "Her name is Sumona Chakravarti. She acts in our serial, Bade acche lagte hai" the employee replied. Kapil let out a huff. "On what basis have u selected her? Has she ever done comedy before? Is this a way to save money?" He asked,irritated. As if switching partners wasn't enough,he had to act with a daily soap actress who didn't know comedy..! "Kapil sir,please. Unhe ek chance to do..she is an excellent actress..and there is no other option." The employee said. Kapil thought about it and decided to give it a chance. "Fine. Send her to me" "She will be here in a couple of minutes." The employee replied. While waiting,Kapil repeated the name to himself. Sumona Chakravarti. He was not much of a daily soap viewer,so he had only caught a glimpse of her in some episode while he was hurriedly switching channels. And he had heard her name through friends,as they were in the same industry. He didn't know how they wud get comfortable enough to do such long acts throughout the season. Well,I will have to wait and watch, he thought...

He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard footsteps approaching him. He braced himself for the encounter. And Sumona entered.She wore a casual chic top and a pair of jeans that she had hurriedly thrown on,wid a pair of sandals. Her makeup was to the bare minimum. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail. Kapil was stunned. He was expecting a woman who was dressed very expensively with lots of jewellery and makeup,and carried an arrogant air around herself. Not this. A simple,cool and chilled out girl who looked like she didn't care about either of those things. And he liked it this way. The look suited her. She was stunning in her own elegant way. Her eyes were the best part about her,he mused. Dark black pools with lots of innocence. They cud capture anyone,for a long,long time,he decided. When she cleared her throat,Kapil abruptly realised he was checking her out for way tooo long,and that she had caught him. He grinned sheepishly. "Hey. I am Kapil sharma". He said,holding out his hand. "Sumona Chakravarti." She smiled back,placing her hand in his. He had been waiting for this moment,he was longing to know how smooth her skin felt under his touch,since the moment he saw her. It was an irrational urge,and he didn't know the reason behind it. But it was an urge all the same. He caught her hand in his and shook it firmly,gently caressing it. It felt like electric sparks were running through his entire body. He pulled back,and noticed she was blushing a little,meaning she felt it too. That satisfied him. He smiled at her and said "So miss Chakra.."

"Sumona. Call me Sumona." She interrupted him. "Alright,Sumona it is then." He said. "So,Mr Sharma..." She hadn't quite finished what she was saying when he interrupted her "U ask me to call u Sumona and then u call me Mister and all...it's Kapil..no one calls me Mr Sharma after we have shook hands..and I think that was quite a handshake,as I'm sure u agree.." He said in a teasing yet flirty tone. Sumona's cheeks coloured. To counter him she said "U r bit older than me..what do I call u when I feel like giving respect to u,then?" She asked wid a twinkle in her eye. He noticed all the implications and teasing in her tone,and decided he had met his match. "If u feel like giving me respect at any time,u can call me Sharma ji..." He said wid a devastating grin. She ended up laughing,hard. Kapil stared at her,mesmerised. Her laughter was captivating.

It was the right decision to have her as my partner,he thought.

"So do u wanna start the rehearsals?" He asked her. "Yea sure. Where is the script?" She asked. "Here." He handed over a piece of paper to her. She looked at it wid her mouth wide open. "What...? This is blank!! Are u kidding with me?" She asked indignantly. "Only if u want to." Kapil replied. When she caught his meaning,she started blushing hard,and to cover it up she hit him. "Shut up..u know what I mean..!" She said. Kapil laughed and told her "Actually,the writers here give me the script this way only. I add all the punches and lines. I will do it right now,and then u do the reading of ur part." Sumona stared at him in wonder,as she watched him work. His intense look,different from his laughing one a minute ago was looking wonderful. He looked great no matter what expression crossed his face. And his face expressions changed almost every minute. He was the most alive man she had ever met. When he finished,he looked up and caught her looking at him in wonder. He smiled and handed her the script. "Read." He told her. She started reading her part. It was her first time doing comedy and she was nervous as hell. When she finished,Kapil was silent for a minute. She dreaded his reaction. Then he gave her a thundering applause."Are u sure this is ur first time..? That was way too good!" She sighed in relief. "Thank u Kapil! I was really nervous. I'm glad I did ok..but listen,can I ask u a favour?" He nodded. "Anything." He told her. "I may get nervous or fumble on the stage. Please help me out in those moments..? She asked wid a fearful look on her face. It melted Kapil. He took her hand in both of his widout thinking abt it,and looked straight into her eyes. "Trust me. U will do just fine. And if u falter at any moment,I will always be here." Sumona felt reassured. Then she grinned and teased him "Accha dialogue tha." They both ended up laughing. Kapil then looked at her and said "So...friends?" "Friends." She repeated,shaking his hand once again.

From that day on,it was one heck of a season for them. They became best friends,and told each other anything and everything. They spent hours together on the set. Sumona fit in perfectly,and became good friends with the entire team,including Preeti simoes. She had heard gossips in the industry that Kapil and preeti were dating,but she never bothered to ask him abt that,and he never said anything on that matter. Although it was easy to see that Kapil and preeti were really close to each other,she never really sensed any romantic attachment between them,just close friendship.Preeti was her friend,too. And she was glad to have her friendship. The season was one of the best experiences of her life. Many times,she and Kapil wud forget the script,end up laughing in between the acts,sometimes Kapil was too busy looking at her to say his lines,or she was too busy looking at him to say hers. Many times they both added random lines to the script. All of this made their acts funnier,and they were declared the winners of the season. Their friendship had become firm and unbreakable. The show,Comedy Circus ended but their firm friendship did not. They still remained in constant touch,and caught up with each other frequently.

With the show ending,Kapil had decided to launch his own dream show,"Comedy Nights With Kapil" along with the help of few members of the CC team,including Preeti. He had told Sumona about it,and she had wished him all the luck. What he hadn't told her was that he wanted her to be there in the show as he cudnt imagine it without her there..but he couldn't summon up the courage to tell her that. So.they had considered and auditioned actors for all the roles, and had selected Ali Asgar as Dadi,Upasna Singh as Bua,Kiku and Sunil in various roles,and Nassem Vicky as the servant,initially. All the roles had been confirmed,except for one. The role of Kapil's wife. Kapil knew who he wanted for it,but his team members told him to audition with a few professional comedian actresses,as Sumona was still relatively new to comedy. He didn't want to do that,but since his team was saying he decided to go ahead with the audition. Since the final decision was in his hands only. He auditioned an actress,but during the trial shoot only he could not feel the ease,the comfort and the warmth that he felt with Sumona. And he knew he wouldn't feel it wid anyone else,ever.

The entire team of cnwk was sitting in the editing room, waiting to see the results of the audition. The tape of the audition played out. It was ok,nothing extraordinary. And Kapil wanted only the extraordinary,the magic and the ease that Sumona brought along wid her. The team turned towards Kapil for his reaction. He only said,turning to Preeti"Yaar please,Mujhe meri Sumona laa do." Only that one sentence. Preeti opened her mouth to say something,but he held up his hand."Please. Call her,right now." Preeti recognised the earning and desire shining in his eyes,and knew at once what was up. Smiling to herself,she dialled sumona's number. She picked up,and Preeti said immediately "Hey Sumona..listen,wud u like to play the role of kapil's wife in comedy nights?" Sumona was surprised. "I thought u guys had cast everyone." She said. Preeti was about to tell her everything,when,in his restlessness Kapil snatched the phone from her hands. "Hey!! It's my phone!" She complained. "Lauta dunga" Kapil said and then bringing the phone to his ears,he told Sumona "Come to the sets right now..I want u to sign the contract." "U cud say please,u know..and r u sure.? I mean..." Sumona was about to continue when he interrupted her "Please. Main wife ke role mei tumhare alawa kisi ko bhi nahi dekh sakta." Sumona melted at this statement. She needed to hear nothing more.

She set out from her home and reached the set. When she reached the gates she saw Kapil waiting for her. When he saw her,widout a word he reached out and crushed her tightly into himself,picking her up in his arms. She wrapped her arms around his neck and smiled at him. "Someone has missed me a lot." He grinned at her."U have no idea." He said."Believe me,I do..because I missed u too" He brightened when he heard that. When he set her down,he took hold of her hand and led her into an office,and shut the door behind him."Where are the others?" She asked. "This is a private deal." He said wid a wicked grin. She blushed. "U have to do this role. I can't imagine the show widout u." He said. "Anything for u,Kapil. I will gladly do it. But,don't u think that essaying the role of ur wife will be a bit difficult..? I mean our personal equation will..." He put a finger on her lips to silence her. "Shhh...I will make this natural for u." He said with a slow smile."How..?" She asked. "See." He said,and widout further words,he kissed her senseless,slowly,deeply and possesively. She kissed him back with the same fire,pulling him close to herself. When they finally pulled back,out of breath,she said "Is that what u will do on the stage,too?" "Nope..on the stage I WILL concentrate on ur lips,but in a different way..they will be used for humour." He winked at her,and she understood. "Double standards,Sharma ji? I like it!!" She smiled. "Call me that on the show,Sharma ji." He said. "Done deal" she replied. "U do know that I love u,right?" He asked her suddenly. She winked at him and said "Love u too...and yes I knew,coz that was quite a kiss. U shud be the next Emraan Hashmi." He pretended to chase her at that and they both ended up falling on top of each other."Well,let me prove it to u once again." He said,kissing her deeply once again. They were happy,blissful,with no other place they'd rather be.

This time,there were other options,but he hadn't wanted any of them...just 'his' Sumona.
