Hey everyone,
The GMs feel obligated to clear out few misunderstandings and address a few concerns with regards to this thread and the previous one:
Big Boss 8 is a big forum where many different kind of individuals get together to discuss the show. This forum consists of fans, neutral viewers, those who dislike a particular constant/(s), and members who just wants to have fun. Everyone has the right to voice their opinions and should NOT be judged/generalized/hated based on their likes/dislikes. We cannot always expect positive criticism and appreciation about our favorite contestant because constructive criticism is also very much part of the discussion. That's the main reason why many of you are here - to criticize and praise the show so let's stick to that. Since the beginning, the DT has stated how discussions should be about the content of the show and contestants - NOT about the fans groups or non fan groups. If you want to criticize, then criticize the act and contestant, not the member/fan.
The same goes for the moderation team as well. If you are unhappy about any particular act or the moderation of the DT, PM the DT member in concern or follow the hierarchy ladder by contacting the CM/GMs instead of accusing the entire Development Team for being biased/corrupted publicly. We are always happy to clarify and attend your concerns as long as it's done in a cordial manner. The DT deals with 100+ reports on a daily basis, attends multiple forum related PMs and do many other housekeeping/admin tasks. Keeping this work load in mind, it's quite possible that the moderation team could have made a few wrong conclusions. We are also humans and humans learn from their mistakes.
Instead of trying to find a scapegoat to put the blame on, try to find the real root of a problem, which is lack of respect for each other and each others opinion. Members of this forum have an equal responsibility of maintaining a peaceful forum. It goes both ways - members should also cooperate and live up to their end of the bargain. You cannot expect the DT to work 24/7. We all have personal lives that also require our attention just as you do. Our mission is always been to review threads (some that go 50+ pages) and issue out appropriate warnings as soon as possible yet we are called lazy and bashed.
Often times members complain about certain locked posts suggesting they should be opened, while others quote the rules telling us that certain posts should be locked. Please don't get us wrong. We appreciate the help with the reports and certainly encourage legitimate reporting but some members go on to report a violation and they, themselves go on to break the same rule! Does not matter who you are - the rules are applicable to every single member that participates in this forum. If everyone simply followed the rules, we wouldn't be standing here today. With only a short time left in the show, we can only hope that members will cooperate with us.
The topic maker of this thread has quoted/taken screen shot of the initial DT note posted in the first thread. However, it seems that the note has been taken in the wrong context and the screenshot has been highlighted for the wrong reasons. The note was put up to inform how the main topic was within the rules and the team has chosen not to close the topic. What was meant by "do not abuse the report button" was to not report for the sake of getting the topic closed just because the topic is not according to your likes. If it's a legitimate violation, report the post once and it will be looked into. As we mentioned before, we definitely encourage reporting but once is enough. The note has been wrongly used here to deliberately rile up the opposite side! The Development team will never support such acts of anyone. We do understand some of you are frustrated but blame game is not the solution. Action has been taken against both sides so there is no room for being biased or favoring one side here!
There's a difference between a humorous post done in good light versus making a humorous post to merely instigate. Humorous posts done in good light and based on what has happened in the show are allowed. However, if the thread begins to mock and instigate a contestant or its fan group, it will be closed. We understand that you may not particularly enjoy a humorous post on your favourite contestant - it's a natural reaction! However, please take a step back and analyze the post. Is it truly bashing your favourite or is the post actually just for fun?
With that being said, members should not use the name of fun to mock a contestant. You are welcome to use facts from the show to support your fun posts but that does not mean you are entitled to cross the line as the thread progresses. Anyone, no matter which group you belong to, will be dealt with severely if you are found violating the rules.
There also seems to be some discrepancy about opening a second thread on the same when the initial one was closed. We would like to clarify that permission for a second thread was given conditionally. In the event there are violations in the thread, it would be closed immediately without any reminders or warnings. We understand things got a bit messy in the initial thread where both parties engaged in distasteful comments. Keeping in mind the original intent of the post and giving everyone the benefit of doubt, a second clean post was allowed given the rules were followed. However, we are sadden to say that this was unfairly taken advantage of. The thread contains numerous violations despite being warned not once but twice! Instead we, the DT were mocked for no apparent reason just because we chose to give members the benefit of doubt and did not want to be unfair towards any party.
Lastly, many of the concerns addressed in this note are not particular to this thread but are general issues we have noticed on the forum. It is not targeted towards a particular member or a particular fan group but serves as a reminder to all.
We hope this resolves all if not many of the concerns. Should you have any further questions, feel free to contact the GM team and we'll be happy to elaborate further.
Due to the continuous breach of rules, this thread is being closed and will remain closed under all circumstances.
We hope for your co-operation.
Thank you,
GM Team
