I usually don't come on this forum nor do I post here But I do catch up on Big Boss once in a while. That also only because my niece works on the show assisting the production team. I spoke to her today and got some inside scoop on the show so thought of sharing it here. It's amazing how reality TV is scripted according to how the TRP's are coming along and especially a show like Big Boss which runs for 3-4 months, needs a certain script to keep it interesting. Apparently all seasons have had major parts of it scripted by the creatives.
As for this season, they extended Halla Bol, only because they did not have the show that was meant to replace BB ready yet. So Colors asked them if they could extend with some novel idea or they had to scramble for something else. BB team was paid extra to extend the show and they decided on the concept of bringing back older contestants. Although challengers were told that they had no chances for winning. They were paid only to go inside the house and cause fights, and the idea that none of them can win is not exposed only to let viewers be hooked on to the show and for voting revenue.
Gautam has been a real sensation vote wise in this season. But, his winning had become too obvious and people were losing interest as the winner was looking evident. Plus, TRP's were dwindling and there was no contestant that was providing content. Gautam beat all other contestants vote wise but the creative team was told that they needed to give Gautam some kind of competition as otherwise an evident result would lose fans of other contestants and viewership would go down too. Gautam-Diandra wasn't a planned romantic angle, but they got a sudden rise in TRP's due to it. But, it also resulted in Gautam's fan base disliking this angle. Gautam was asked to cash in on it, but he did not want to take it further as he got to know that his fans are not liking it. Also, Gautam screwed up that angle with his denial, hence even though they tried to push it further, it got him severe back lash. When Diandra was evicted, it was Upen and her who had the least votes. On briefing, they were asked if they could provide any content for the week, but Diandra refused to create fights and do drama. She said it would look forced and fake as it was not her nature and people would see through it. She was evicted instead of Upen who was told to do something dramatic, and that is when he started his crazy behavior. However, it did not help TRP's for the week.
Apparently, Sonali was briefed on trying a romance angle on the show. But because of her laid back attitude, even though she tried, it didn't go further as she did not take it seriously herself. On her eviction day, Dimpy was supposed to go out based on votes. Upen was in talks of re-entering the show to romance Sonali. However, while in talks, the creatives realized that Upen and Sonali had not ended on good terms and it would look completely out of character for them to romance suddenly. The team asked Upen who he could try the angle with and he said Karishma because she was the only one he was close to in the house before he left amongst the girls. He was asked about Dimpy too, as it would create a triangle with Rahul on the show. But Upen did not feel comfortable with Dimpy as he thought it too would look very fake and sudden out of nowhere. Karishma was then briefed about this possibility and she gave a thumbs up for it, as BB said it would put her in the limelight as a very possible winner instead of Gautam. They needed someone who could guarantee TRP's and as well as become a contender to Gautam for votes and the title. Dimpy was briefed on Rahul and she was ok with being with him through Halla Bol and she also promised content. And that's why Sonali was evicted, as the makers realized she was not going to add any content to the show, due to her non-controversial attitude. Sonali was not happy with this decision at all and hence she had an outburst on the day of the finale.
Rahul was supposed to go inside and hit on Sonali and then Dimpy was supposed to fight with Sonali over this. However, Sonali was evicted and hence Rahul was briefed about flirting with Karishma instead. The Dimpy-Rahul-Karishma saga was planned and they were told how to react. The team had also asked Karishma if she was ok with an angle with Upen, since there was no other possibility for any couple. Upen was paid a lot of money and Karishma was guaranteed limelight for two weeks straight and a direct entry into the finale. She gave her consent and the whole thing was planned with Upen. Her boyfriend outside was supposed to give his comment on them breaking up before Upen entered. Sambhavna was also told to tell Karishma that her boyfriend had broken up with her outside. However everything did not go as planned and hence the confusion about her status happened, which the makers hadn't planned. Which is why she is looking bad right now in her image. Her mother is reportedly not happy with this image that is coming out. However, this angle has gained them TRP's and they decided to keep Upen in the house for another week to milk in on the romantic angle.
Gautam and Ali have not been providing content for the past few weeks and the makers would like to evict one of them. However, Gautam has such a large fan base and he scores almost 50% of the votes in his favor, hence they cannot do that. Also he has the largest viewership in Big Boss right now, so the creatives are in a fix. However, right now, they are in talks with him to provide some kind of content because Upen will be leaving this week.
The creative team wanted an unconventional winner that was not obvious. However, Gautam Gulati surprised them with the votes and fans that he gained from the first week. When it became too obvious he would win, they pinned their hopes on Pritam Singh to give him competition. That is when Pritam had a fall out with Gautam, as planned. However, this resulted in Pritam losing an amount of his fan base. There was no other angle that Pritam could provide. He was then told to play safe and keep a positive and good guy image throughout, like Ashutosh who had gone on to win BB 2. Pritam has a larger fan base than Karishma Tanna, but not enough to beat Gulati. Karishma Tanna was always in the running for the title, but she wasn't gaining votes and/or providing content. They have now pushed her to the forefront and she has in a span of a week outdone Pritam in their vote base.
I just wanted to post it on the forum as I found it very intriguing how they have the same kind of scripts for each season and how they keep changing the scripts based on TRP's. Reality TV is such a joke in that sense, as it's made to look real, while it's all fake and the only people gaining anything out of it are the makers and the contestants who sit and make huge amounts of money. I always thought this about reality TV shows here in the US. But, for the first time, I was just very excited to get news from the inside in an Indian reality TV show and learn how interestingly they make them. I am posting it here simply because it is inside scoop that a lot of you people who watch Big Boss might like.

karishma upen thing is scripted for sure but i dont think pritam gautam tiff & gaudi angle was scripted
