Khamoshi Todo: Colors launches CODE RED, an initiative to impart hope and break the silence!

New Delhi: Many a times, we experience a certain kind of pressure around us, a unique kind of depression that takes over, an unidentified feeling that restricts us from opening up. It can be fear, lack of confidence or an obvious or hidden offence that's happening with us that leads us to an emotional breakdown which we can't handle and then BOOM! We explode. Like a pressure cooker. Everyone around us faces this situation once in their lives, no matter what.

But what after that? Do you crib about it or do you see the positive aspect and handle the situation?

Code Red. That promo you see on Colors channel with Sakshi Tanwar telling you that there are such kind of situations in life that happen with anyone and you don't know what to do, where to go and whom to say. You need to listen to your inner voice and be strong enough to fight the situation. Well, that's what the show is all about.

To be featured on Colors, Code Red, will be a show which is aimed to be a beacon of hope addressing issues of human frailty. It depicts the inner conflict a human being goes through when faced with a crisis of conscience.

This new show that gives hope to those battling with both inner and outer demons was launched in the capital on Tuesday with prominent personalities discussing the social, criminal and other sensitive issues that affect the society. Held at Hindu College, University of Delhi, a decent number of students from Hindu College along with professors shared their views with those associated with the initiative- Code Red.

The stage was an active one with influential people like Kiran Bedi, actor Tisca Chopra, senior journalist Nalini Singh, Twitter India Head Rishi Jaitley, BJP spokesperson and president of Mahila Morcha Delhi Pradesh Kanwaljeet Sherawat noted anchor and RJ Richa Anirudh and few more faces who discussed the sensitive issues that bother the soul and the body. The discussion was based on "Battling Demons: Inner & Outer".

BJP Spokesperson and President of Mahila Morcha Delhi Pradesh - Kanwaljeet Sherawat said, "Today's youth is more alert and exposed and they have a mind of their own. We urge the parents to guide their children in a friendly way and understand their point of view rather than impose their career or personal choices upon them"

While Kiran Bedi highlighted the importance of safety helplines and the lack of awareness in that context, journalist Nalini Singh expressed the need to be ourselves. "Why do we need to portray ourselves as someone we are not? Why do we have to change ourselves to make people happy? Just be yourself" said she.

Senior High Court Lawyer, Rita Kumar applauded the channel for creating Code Red, a platform where issues that are swept under the carpet are discussed openly in order to find solutions for them.

This initiative was combined with a series of comments with the common hashtag #khamoshitodo. Tweetards were responding with their questions and expressed concern over sensitive issues which Kiran Bedi, Tisca Chopra and Rishi Jaitley answered quite nicely.

Code Red initiative combines six episodes in a week featuring stories based on various human frailties., which will be presented through different prominent themes under the brand umbrella Code Red'.

Ummeed- focusing on stories who are on the verge of ending their lives, Awaaz- focusing on violence against women and children and Chakravyuh- focusing on various forms of entrapment- physical and psychological. Each theme will be brought to life by a different production house and the stories will be presented by Sakshi Tanwar who will embody the inner voice and be the voice of reason. Actors Manish Chaudhari, in the role of an NGO representative and Yash Sinha, as a crime reporter, will take us through various instances where circumstances and conditions pushed a person against the wall.

Manish Chaudhari, who is known for his exceptional performances in Rocket Singh- Salesman of the Year and Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula also said, "People have a certain kind of mentality and they are taught Mard ko Dard Nahi Hota. But this is not true. Even I have faced such kind of a thing. I used to cry in the bathroom or under the pillow. But this shouldn't be done. Even men need to break the silence. Express it out strongly and speak up for yourself."

Code Red will attempt to showcase these stories and make people believe there is hope, only if they chose to break the silence.

WHY DO WE WATCH CODE RED? WHAT'S DIFFERENT?

Manish Chaudhari, who also acts in the show clarified, "It is the sensitivity. It is the intensity of the show, the heart and the effort that is put in the show will make the audience know that it is not an ordinary show. It is different in the sense it touches the heart, the crucial aspects of emotions where the limit is failure- suicide. Cases like these happen every day. We will show the causes, the situations and how to deal with it rather than just presenting it like another crime show. The team has worked really hard for eradicating the weaknesses of a being that leads to cases like suicide. Rather we strive to instill confidence and hope in each of the person who views the show"

Code Red starts on 19 January 2015 every Monday to Saturday at 10.30 pm.
