CID Written Update: Happy New Year (4th January, 2015)

Scene 1

We see a girl getting ready for school and asking her mom to prepare the tiffin fast as she'll be late for the bus. She calls for her sister Ambika, who is seen checking a brown packet containing a white powdery substance. Her sister and mom enter the room and notice she's tensed. Her mom says she knows she's worried about her (mother's) operation. Ambika says there's no need to worry as the money has been arranged. Her mother is concerned that the operation will create additional pressure on Ambika's already meager salary. They share an emotional moment. Once the other two leave, Ambika draws a hidden gun and says she's ready even to kill for saving her mom's life.

Scene 2

Ambika gets into an auto and asks to be taken to the Phool Bazaar. We see a youth waiting in a car, evidently enraged at her and starts following the auto. At her destination, the youth is about to dismount but stops when Ambika is intercepted by a lady who demands if she's brought the stuff. Ambika says she'll only hand it over to Marco, and is taken to him. Ambika demands for her money and says she doesn't wish to be involved in the drugs racket after this. Suddenly, an SUV with three unknown men arrives and a gunfight begins with Marco and his lady, who are shot dead. Ambika flees with the drugs' case and one of the men chases her. Just as he's about to catch her, the youth Naveen drives up and helps Ambika escape in his car. He scolds her for involving in wrong deeds and says she could've been killed. Ambika says she has no other way to get enough money to save her mom. We learn that they're in a relationship and Naveen's father and brother Ashwin apparently doesn't support their marriage. Ambika asks to be dropped off at an orphanage, and Naveen resolves to talk to his family about the marriage.

Scene 3

Ambika visits the orphanage where all the children love her as Didi. She shares some sweet moments with them and says she needs to prepare for the New Year party. The orphanage assistants Mohit and Sylvia meet her and are shocked to see the injury Ambika had sustained during the chase. She brushes it off. They says they don't have enough money to buy gifts for the kids. The orphanage owner Dhananjay arrives along with his sons Naveen and Ashwin, and the latter's wife, and gives toys to the children. Ashwin is seen looking unhappy about it, calling it a waste of money. Dhananjay gives the green light to give the kids gifts during the party, and handle extra costs. Some workers accidentally drop a glass slab from above and it nearly crushes him. The worker Chandan apologizes and Ashwin loses his temper over him. Ambika defends him and Ashwin rounds on her too. Dhananjay scolds him and Ashwin fumes saying he's partial to Naveen. Party preparations begin and Dhananjay asks Ashwin's wife to give Ambika some money for getting gifts for the children. Ashwin asks his bodyguard Param to accompany her. A small girl Kittu from the orphanage accompanies her as well.

Scene 4

The three are driving along with a driver Ranjan. Ambika shares some cute moments with the little girl. Param gets a call and darkly grumbles about it. He asks the driver to pull up and gets out saying he'll be back soon. A long while passes and the driver proves unhelpful, so Ambika goes out to look for Param asking Kittu to stay in the car. We eventually see Kittu on the road asking people to wake up her Ambika didi . A couple meets her but doesn't realize the situation and sends her away. A car accidentally hits her and the driver gets out, shocked. Thankfully, she isn't injured much. The car passengers turn out to be BCL participants Arjun, Kishwar and Suyyash. Kittu innocently requests them to wake up Ambika. She leads them to a warehouse where we see Ambika's body on the floor. Shocked, they call the CID.

Scene 5

We see Abhijeet sir, Freddy sir, Jayawanti and Mayur investigating. Abhijeet sir notes she was killed with a single stab wound, and says it doesn't seemed to be a planned murder otherwise the killer would've chosen a deserted godown instead of an active one. They spot a shoe-print on her clothes, likely the killer's. Kishwar tells him they didn't see anybody running from the godown. Jayawanti finds drugs and the gun in Ambika's bag, along with her ID card. Freddy sir finds a freshly burned piece of newspaper; Abhijeet sir asks Mayur to send it to the forensic lab. Kittu is seen insisting to meet her Didi. The team consoles her and convinces her to go to the bureau with Jayawanti. Abhijeet sir thanks the BCL guys for their help.

Scene 6

Our duo and Jayawanti befriend Kittu in the bureau and spend some sweet moments with her. She explains to them what happened with Param and Ranjan. She says she had went looking for Ambika didi and found her in the godown. She also doesn't know the location of her home (the orphanage). Abhijeet air assures they'll find it, and sends her off with Jayawanti. Daya sir says they'll be able to get to Param and Ranjan if they find the car they were in. Freddy sir comes with Ambika's mom and sister Kriti. They're devastated and they don't recognize the two men or the Bais godown (where the body was found). They reveal that she used to work at the Vatsal orphanage. They're shocked the see the drugs and gun found in Ambika's bag, and don't recognize Kittu. Her mother suddenly faints; her daughter tells them she's suffering from cancer and must immediately be taken to the hospital. The team proceeds to do the same.

Scene 7

The people at the orphanage are seen trying to contact Ambika, Param and Ranjan, only to find the mobiles switched off. Abhijeet sir, Sachin sir, Nikhil and Shreya arrive and inform them about Ambika's murder. All of them especially Naveen are shocked, and he reveals that he loved her. Abhijeet sir asks about the drugs and gun; Naveen says she sometimes used to supply drugs to get money for her mother's treatment, though this was her final deal before quitting. Sachin sir says they suspect Param and Ranjan of being involved in her murder. Shreya says Kittu is fine and will stay with them until the case is solved. Ashwin suspects Param and recalls how he was negligent when Chandan nearly dropped the glass slab on his father earlier. He suspects them of being co-conspirators. Sachin points out that doesn't explain Ambika's murder. Naveen says it cannot be due to the drug business, as she was already out of the racket. Abhijeet sir suspects Naveen and silently tells Sachin sir to keep an eye on him. Ashwin receives a call that the car has been found outside their old office, though Param and Ranjan are missing. Abhijeet sir says they cleverly abandoned it to prevent being tracked. He asks for their photos.

Scene 8

In the forensic lab, Dr. Salunkhe and Dr. Tarika are seen performing tests on Ambika's body. The team comprising of ACP sir, Sachin sir, Nikhil and Shreya enters and Dr. Salunkhe informs them that they've found turpentine and sawdust in the footprint on Ambika's clothing. Tarika points out the stab wound is 5 inches deep and they found fish oil and sea salt inside it. They construe the killers must be person(s) involved with woodwork and fishery. Salunkhe sir says the burnt newspaper is in really bad condition, and it'll take them time to work on it. Freddy sir calls Sachin sir to inform that the godown owner Kushal has been found.

Scene 9

Abhijeet sir and others meet Kushal who says he has no idea who Ambika was, and this is one of the 25 godowns he owns and rarely visits, instead entrusting them to managers. The manager of this godown named Kokka is missing. Freddy sir provides his bio-data.

Scene 10

In the lab, Dr. Salunkhe uses some special kind of glass with infinite melting point to produce a temperature of 1500 degrees (!!) and transfer that to the burnt newspaper so they can decipher what's written on it.

Scene 11

Sachin sir, Nikhil and Shreya visit Kokka's house only to find his wife in an argument with the landlord who's trying to get the family removed because of a minor delay in payment. Sachin sir tells him off and sends him going, before informing his wife about the murder and Kokka's possible involvement in it. On hearing about the orphanage, she recalls him telling someone on phone that the children at some place must not be harmed. The officers construe something must be going to happen at the New Year Party in the orphanage, and Ambika was killed because she found out about it. Shreya says the carpenter Chandan could be involved as well. Kokka's wife says Chandan is Kokka's friend and a vagabond like him. Sachin sir asks Nikhil to find out who had hired Chandan for the orphanage work, and says they need to find out who's the target at the party.

Scene 12

Freddy sir, Jayawanti and Pankaj arrive in disguise at the orphanage as "Bunny Decorators" employees, saying Ambika handled them to handle the decorations and catering at the party. They show the receipt and are allowed inside, and decide to keep a close watch on everyone.

Scene 13

In the lab, ACP sir is seen in contact with the disguised three at the party. Salunkhe sir finishes his heating procedure and bombards alpha particles on the newspaper to reveal a rough sketch of a sniper shooting two people from the balcony amidst a crowd. The cops construe the murder might happen at the orphanage and someone from the Kumar family is at risk.

Scene 14

The party begins at the orphanage and the disguised Freddy sir, Pankaj and Jayawanti are seen keeping an eye on it. Two masked men with guns are seen entering the venue.

Scene 15

ACP sir and Daya sir are seen driving in a car. ACP sir asks Shreya on phone to find out about Chandan's whereabouts from his employer. He mentions Kokka was once a fisherman and Ambika was stabbed with his knife, and asks her to nab him as well. He and Daya sir say they need to save the innocent children from being harmed.

Scene 16

The party gets over. Freddy sir notes its 11:15 and ACP sir must be arriving anytime. Dhananjay ascends the rostrum for the prize distribution and calls up Ashwin as well. Just as he begins, the two masked thugs open fire from the balcony and shoot Dhananjay on the shoulder. Daya sir and ACP sir arrive in time to retaliate and disarm them. The crooks are captured and unmasked; they turn out to be Param and Ranjan. They confess that an unknown person had been paying them to murder Dhananjay and Ashwin. Ambika found out about it, and thus they had to kill her as well. Shreya arrives with Chandan who confesses he'd gotten a letter with money saying the glass slab must land near Dhananjay without harming him. ACP sir and Daya sir sarcastically marvel how merciful Dhananjay's alleged enemy is - always taking care to make sure the attacks don't harm him. Dhananjay suddenly holds Ashwin at gunpoint and says his real parents died in an accident in South Africa 30 years ago, and he's an impostor named Vijay Parmar who's been masquerading as his father Dhananjay ever since. He wants Ashwin dead as he wants his real son Naveen to get all the property. Naveen criticizes him. ACP sir says crime is not a way to escape from poverty. The cops manage to trick and disarm Vijay in time; Daya sir hands him a tight slap.

Scene 17

The team is seen celebrating New Year along with all the kids at the orphanage. Kittu is sad that Ambika didi is not back yet. The team grows emotional and softly tells her that her Didi is with God now and cannot return. Kittu innocently asks why all her loved ones are now with God. Shreya promises never to leave her. ACP sir and Daya sir convey a noble message asking the audience to help children like Kittu.
