Punnet knew that he was leaving because he had to direct a film for Salman, which will be staring Sohail Khan.

It is all part of the script. He knew he had to go and that is why his wife told him in the house that In her eyes he is already the winner.

I know it is more fun to just neglect the fact that the show is scripted but every episode makes it more and more obvious.
