Ting! The light behind the seat belt sign turned off indicating the plane was now flying at altitude. Three hours to go. Raman stretched trying to crack all the knots in his back. This week had been exhausting, work, home and his relationships. All at once drained, he just wanted some shut eye.
He pushed his seat as far back as it would go. the complimentary pillow to cushion his head, the do not disturb sign up, he let his eyes droop shut and drifted slowly into slumber.
He woke up all of a sudden startled; where was he? The drone of the plane and the bustle around him jogged his memory but as he tried to shift upright, his left arm had gone to sleep. He felt it weighed down and tried to pull it back when he felt the stubborn pull back and the warmth of breath at his neck.
She seemed so relaxed in sleep. her long hair covering most of her face flowed over his shirt front and the rest of her was covered by his jacket. He gazed at her outlining her features despite the dimmed lights around their seating. His jacket around her, somehow bought out a primal feeling of protectiveness, warmth and ownership all at once. She was his and she was here to stay. He had once thought he was in love, but now he knew how juvenile and fleeting that emotion was. This was no mere in love' feeling, this women beside him was his all. It hurt to even contemplate losing her, just that thought hitched his breath.
Oblivious of his gaze and deep thoughts Ishita cuddled further into him; a satisfied hum and a murmur, still buried deep in the cushions of some sweet dream her lips stretched into a serene smile. she rubbed her face unwittingly against his shirt as stray strands of hair tickled her nostrils. Smiling Raman sifted his right hand through her hair tucking it behind her ear. Turning slightly his lips grazed her forehead in a whisper of a kiss and he stayed still like that for a moment breathing in the scent of her shampoo.
The slight turn in his body again bought that fierce reaction of her holding his hand tighter against her as she shifted even closer to him.
Suddenly Raman was aware of his hand being nestled so close to her person. The back of his arm was lying nestled in her breasts. Her pallu must have shifted because he could feel his elbow below his folded shirt sleeve agains the naked flesh of her stomach while his hand lay some where between her legs, palm down on her pleat covered thigh.
The intimacy of it all, the realization slowly ignited a desire so heavy it threatened to burn him. His toes curled with the heady feeling as he squeezed his eyes shut. The irony of trying to get away from his crowded home, to have some privacy with his wife. only to have desire smack him quite literally in the gullies right in the middle of a full flight with the object of his desires fast asleep did not escape him. God Help him he groaned inwardly he fought for control, eyes shut tight, his erratic breathing showing no signs of slowing down. It must have been the loss of breath in his battle for control that made him sigh a bit louder than he wanted to.
That sound, or maybe just the position in itself or having reached the extent of how long one could sleep in an airplane Ishita woke up. Still warm from her dream and in that small window where one is not conscious of ones surrounding, she turned her face up to smile into those eyes that she had come to love so much.
Time stood still for them as they looked into the souls of the other. That one unguarded moment seemed filled with promises and declarations that they had been toying around for weeks now. Desire burnt around them. Just as that moment slipped away, Ishita being the first to realize where they were and how they were started to shift murmuring a embarrassed sorry.
Before she could finish or pull away, he turned toward her more, his right hand dove into the hair by her face cushioning her cheek in his palm as his left hand remained cushioned between her legs. He bent his head and kissed her - a long, sweet unburdening kiss that held the affirmations of who they were and promised a start to yet another beautiful discovery of life together.
