Chapter - 3

"He means nothing to me..." she said to herself for the hundredth time that day, as she thought of the horrible way he had flirted with Kriya that morning.

She thought that she would just hate him after that incident, but she just couldn't. Every time she pictured his rusty-brown eyes, perfectly angled nose and his flawless one-sided smile, she seemed to get lost in his thoughts.

"Why the hell are you doing this to me? I just want to get over you. Main aapko nafrat karna chahti hoon. Lekin, mujhse nahi ho raha. Kyun?" she asked herself for the zillionth time as her eyes filled with tears.

"What's wrong Taani?" asked Sharon as she entered the room, just in time to see Taani break down.

"Nothing Sharon... Kuch nahi." said Taani, as she hurriedly wiped away her tears, hoping that Sharon didn't see them.

"Taani, tum mujhse jhoot nahi bol sakti ho. I know, tum Reyaansh ke baare mein soch rahi ho na?" asked Sharon. She knew the answer already, but she just wanted to hear it from Taani.

When Taani didn't respond, Sharon sat beside her. "Taani, tum apni feelings mere saath share kar sakti ho. I know that it hurts when you see him with someone else, aur mujhe yeh bhi patha hai ki it's not just an attraction that you have for him. I know that you love him Taani. Kab tak apni feeling chupayegi?"

"Sharon... ab main kya karoon? Haan, bohot pyaar karti hoon maion unhe. Lekin, ab toh koi farak nahi padta hai. I don't even exist in his world Sharon. I don't belong with him." she broke down as she hugged Sharon, tears flowing down her cheeks, unstoppably.

"Taani... let me just tell you one thing. For now, you have other important things besides him in life. Ab toh tumhe kal ki auditions ke baare mein sochna hai. He is not the end of the world Taani." said Sharon, as she wiped her tears.

"Yeah right... mujhe abhi auditions ke baare mein sochna hai. I have better things to do than to think about him." said Taani, as she got up with a determined look on her face.

"That's the spirit. So, are ready with the dialogues for the auditions?" asked Sharon. Finally, she was glad that Taani was fine.

"Nope... maine yeh bhi decide nahi kiya, which role I'll be auditioning for, aur kal auditions hai." said Taani, looking tensed and dismayed.

"Taani... are you mad?!!! You obviously have to audition for Juliet's role. Iss mein kya doubt hai?" said Sharon.

"But Sharon..." began Taani, about to say something, but was cut-off by Sharon in the mid sentence.

"No buts. You are auditioning for Juliet's role and that's it." said Sharon, with an air of finality.

"Swayam... are you sure that I should be trying for Romeo's role?" asked Rey for the 5^th time as he rehearsed for the auditions.

"Of course bro! Without any doubt! Now... just stop bugging me when I'm learning my lines." said Swayam, giving Rey an irritated look.

"Well... what if Kriya becomes Juliet?" asked Rey, winking at Swayam.

"Then you can happily GO TO HELL WITH HER." he shouted, stressing on the go to hell with her words.

"Hey... chill dude. I was just kidding." said Rey, as he now tried to protect himself from his best friend's temper.

"Then find some other time dude... because, I'm rehearsing now and the moment you mention that drama-queen's name, I end up forgetting my lines." said Swayam, giving Rey a warning look.

"So, what if I mention Sharon's name?" asked Rey, mischievously.

"What? Who?!!!" asked Swayam, totally caught off-guard with the sudden mention of her name.

"Arre... aaram se. Don't fall off your chair bro." said Rey, winking at Swayam.

"I actually don't know what you are talking about dude." said Swayam, looking innocent.

"Awww... I know that you can act very innocent at times Swayam... but don't think I didn't notice. I saw the way your eyes kept flickering back to her in the meeting." said Rey.

"And I saw the way you were looking at Taani from the corner of your eyes when you thought nobody was seeing." countered Swayam.

"Whatever..." said both of them together, their eyes back on the dialogue script, but their thoughts still lingering elsewhere.

Everybody assembled in the auditorium, with their eyes struck on a piece of paper. Everybody wanted to get a part in this play, however small it was, because it was their first play ever.

"Are you nervous Taani?" asked Sharon, looking at Taani, who was the only one not sticking her eyes to the script.

"Why the hell should she be nervous? She knows the whole play by-heart! It is we who should actually be nervous." complained Simmi, making Taani laugh.

"There is no need to be nervous guys! Things will work fine." said Taani.

Before their conversation could be continued; Rey, Swayam, Nil and Vicky made their entry, sitting right opposite to where Taani, Sharon, Simmi and Neha were sitting.

"Here comes your Romeo!" whispered Sharon, in Taani's ear, making her go pink.

"And yours too..." said Taani, winking towards Swayam, making Sharon blush.

Suddenly, Taani felt somebody's gaze on her, making her conscious. She knew who it was, but she didn't want it to be. Slowly, she tilted her face to his direction, only to find him staring at her with an intense look on his face, his eyes displaying unknown emotions, drinking every inch of her body. She felt naked under his glance. It seemed to her as if he were undressing her with his eyes. Her face turned red at that thought. He smirked, seeing her red face, dark desires forming in his mind...
