well I will start with kids series first...if we look at the statistcs we understand that the 80% boys of age 8-15 are interested in playing games such as cricket or any outdoor activities and build muscles.. so, after school they usually play around come back and really dont have the time for music... and if they do also, they usually know few songs.. which is not acceptable in competitions like antakshari, but acceptable in singing competitions where they have to just sing one song... Antakshari is a game which needs people with good database of songs..so 80% boys are eliminated.. now coming to 20%.. out of 20% maybe 5% will have good voices.. so we usually see less boys participating in ATGC...
now coming to gals, 60% of them r not so interested in outdoor activities because they are more worried abt complexion n things like that. so they prefer rather staying at home and watch TV.. and they have good memory when compared to guys.. so obviously a good database for music....
and when the guys n gals grow up even though later guys develop the interest for music but they still dont have time to remember all the songs n lyrics..they would be rather interested in activities like boozing, smoking, biking or dating....so keeping the time constrains and % of people interested in music.. we end up having more female participants...also, this is a known fact that guys doesn't have a good memory when compared to girls..
One more thing, we very rarely see guys with great database of music.. for Example look at anu kapoor he knows most of the songs.. and thats the reason he has so much demand.. at this age also he is still offered the job for anchoring shows like antakshari bcos of his popularity and knowledge of indian music..
I just came up with all these points randomly.. not sure how many of u will agree with it..will think abt it again and add more points..
