On this Friendship Day, LT asks celebs to spell out what friendship means to them

When we talk of friendship, many such bonds come to one's mind - ranging from Jai and Veeru in the 70s classic Sholay to Saif, Aamir and Akshaye Khanna's trio in Dil Chahta Hai. However, friendships are not just limited to reel life.

It's our friends who make life worth living. Everyone - right from the common man to celebs - would agree that one who finds a friend, finds a treasure.

So on this World Friendship Day LT talks to celebs in the tinsel town to find out what friendship means to them and to what extent are they willing to go for their friends.

Talking about her friends, Singer Raageshwari says, "I have many acquaintances but few friends. And my friends and I know that we can call and rely on each other at any place, anytime." Her idea of friendship is all about mutual bonding. "I truly believe it's all about give and take. I also rely on deep honesty in the form of advice, criticism and frank opinions from my friends."

The style icon of small screen, Aamna Shariff, believes, "Friends are everything for me and I would not like to wait for any special day to make them feel how special they are to me." She further tells us, "No doubt Rajeev Khandelwal is that one person in my life who is very close to my heart and is my best friend."

Model Zulfi Syed, who makes many a heart skip a beat, is more into male bonding. His heart beats for his close friend Shawar Ali. Says Zulfi, "Shawar Ali is like a family member to me and I think one needs to give 100 per cent where friends are concerned."

For Sveta Salve, dancing queen of Jhalak Dikhlaja, friends come right next after her family. She quips, "I will never hesitate to go out of my way for my pals as they mean a lot to me."

And though you find her bickering non-stop on the small screen, Jaya Bhattacharya is a different person when it comes to real life friends. "For me, friendship is all about accepting a person the way he is.

I would not go around with a chisel to make changes to my friend's face. Besides, loyalty is what strengthens and makes friendship go a long way."

Shefali Zariwala, the Kaanta Laga girl, has a huge gang of pals but only a few close friends. She says, "I've been blessed that I have such good friends who can go to any extent to help me." She finds friendship to be the foundation on which the edifice of relationship is built. She adds, "For me friendship is very important and no relationship can go a long way sans the bond of friendship."
