Explaining the Tattoo/Mark - It's Meaning and Significance

Okay so today my Mum started watching the show and she explained what this tattoo/mark is and what the significance is. I think it fully explains everything about Rudra as well.

Now someone already posted about the fight for Amrit. Now this is what my mummy told me.

A bird, Garor Chin, was given the task of protecting the Amrit when the Devas won. Garor Chin is the tattoo that is on Rudra's back.

Based on this what I can say is that the Garor Chin has been reborn as Rudra and that is why he has superpowers beyond anyone's imagination. He was born to protect the Amrit and the world as well.

Hmm...sounds quite authentic. And that's the reason the tattoo has this sort of the wings of a phoenix at its edges--a bird reborn in the form of a human to protect humanity n the amrit. Very intriguing concept indeed.

A small correction, and a bit of amplification, my dear.

The bird is not the Garuda Chin, but Garuda himself. Chinna means sign, or mark, and the tattoo, or rather the mark, for it regenerated itself effortlessly, is the Garuda Chinna or Chin.

The Garuda, or the divine eagle, is the mount, or vahana, of Lord Vishnu, the Protector in the Hindu Trinity. Now, after the Amrit Kumbh surfaced from the ocean during the samudramanthan, it was Lord Vishnu, in his Mohini avatar, as a beautiful woman, who took charge of the distribution of the amrit between the Devas and the Asuras.

She managed to prevent the Asuras from getting any of the amrit and thus attaining immortality. Except for Rahu, an Asura who disguised himself as a Deva and got a mouthful of amrit from Mohini before he was caught out and beheaded by Lord Vishnu's Sudharshan Chakra. However, as he had already become immortal, his head stayed on as Rahu and his body as Ketu.

So, just as Lord Vishnu, in his Mohini avatar, was the guardian of the amrit immediateluy after the samudramanthan, his mount, the Garuda, became its guardian afterwards.

Incidentally, after the Asuras - who had worked just as hard as the Devas during the samudramanthan, which would have never succeeded without them - were conned out of the amrit, their guru, Shukracharya, managed to get the Sanjeevani mantra, with which he could restore the dead asuras to life, and thus provided some sort of balance between the two rival groupings.

Khushi my pet,

These days, I seem to be nothing more than a shaky collection of defective body parts!๐Ÿ˜‰ My knee is coming along more slowly than I had hoped for, and with a sad lack of discipline for someone my age, I overdid things yesterday, responding on various threads. Do see the ones I did on Arshi's thread, at

https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/117462510

and on Calliope's thread about the Surdas bhajan cited by Udiya Baba when he is telling Rudra to let go and set out on his own (idiotic beyond belief, but let that pass!) which is at

117428651

You will find them interesting, but the net result of all this typing with my knee bent has been that it is kicking today, and I do not know if I will be able to do my standalone post on the first week of Mahakumbh. (Yes, having been a good girl for over 3 months now, I can do standalone threads once more, believe it or not!๐Ÿ˜‰)

Let me see if I can complete it and get it off this afternoon without crocking my knee. Regardless of whether I manage that or not, I am delighted to be back with you, my pet. A HUGE hug for you!๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค— I dropped in on your perky little thread, but I did not comment on it, so as not to invite yet more trouble!!

Affectionately,

Shyamala Aunty
