Hakim Khan Suri was a member of the Sur dynasty and was a descendant of Sher Shah Suri (the founder of the Sur Empire). Hakim wanted revenge from the Mughals as Sher Shah was defeated by them.

Hakim was the chief of artillery in MP's army and led Pratap's vanguard in the Battle of Haldighati. He was an excellent warrior who fought valorously and died in 1576. He holds a very important place in Mewar's history and is highly revered by the people of Mewar. Even an award of the Maharana Mewar Foundation bears his name.

During the reign of Maharana Udai Singh ,Karbala warrior's descendents, Hakim Khan Suri came to Mewar. He later on became a lieutenant of Maharana Pratap and fought bravely in the battle of Haldi Ghati. Hakim Khan fighting with Maharana pratap and Raja Man along with Akbar, clearly establishes the fact that the battle of Haldi Ghati was fought against imperialistic and expansionistic design, and it was not a communal one. Moti Magri also proudly hosts the statue of Hakim Khan Sur Pathan, one of the trusted men of Maharana Pratap. Hakim Khan was a descendant of Sher Shah Suri of the Afghan region and joined Pratap to avenge the fall of his forefathers by the mughals.

Some more info:

Hakim Khan Suri was an Afghan warrior and chief of artillery in Rana Pratap's army. He fought valorously with him in the Battle of Haldighati and died in 1576

Hakim Khan Suri was a member of the Sur dynasty and was a descendant of Sher Shah Suri, the founder of the Sur Empire.

Hakim Khan was a seasoned Sur, who had his own ax; to grind against the imperial motives of the Mughals. He found in Pratap an energetic, chivalrous and boldest veteran hero to whom also the Mughal imperialism was a nuisance. During the reign of Maharana Udai Singh, Karbala warrior's descendents, Hakim Khan Suri came to Mewar. He was later on declared to be a commander (senapati) of Maharana Pratap's army and fought bravely in the Battle of Haldighati.

The Battle of Haldighati is widely but wrongly perceived as a Hindu-Muslim conflict, but this is not the case. Both armies had a mix of Hindus and Muslims. This battle was just a struggle between the Mughal imperialism and Mewar. Whereas Hakim Khan Suri led the vanguard for Rana Pratap, Akbar's army was commanded by the Rajput chief of Jaipur, Man Singh. Hakim Khan was part of the battle to extract revenge from the Mughals for the defeat of Sher Shah Suri, his forefather.

He is a matchless example of extraordinary valour, bravery, sacrifice, honesty, faith and duty. He was the treasurer of Rana Pratap.

Hakim Khan Suri occupies a high place in the annals of Mewar and an award of the Maharana Mewar Foundation bears his name.

Every year a commemorative festival is held at Haldighati where his memorial is located.

I beg to differ, the Mughal - Mewar war did have religious color. Hakim khan sur already had some scores to settle with Mughals , so he joined hands with Mewar. Even Shivaji had Pathan muslims in his army. Mughal expansion was not just about imperialism but they prided themselves in being Ghazis and conquerors of Hindu infidels. This is well documented in their royal biographies whether so called secular Akbar or overtly communal Aurangzeb.
Akbar too had Kachhwahas of Aamer fighting for him. And Mewar and history called them traitors. The treatment meted out to Raja Man Singh by Maharana before Haldighati battle is one example for this.
Raja Man Singh is not honored in history how much ever battles he won for Akbar being his right hand henchman but Maharana Pratap is for his virtuousness, valiant, bravery and patriotism.

Really? I never perceived the battle to be a communal one, i thought it was a nationalistic one, anti-expansionist war! I dont know why people use mentality of the partition on battles that happened centuries ago? its just pathetic! if only people figured out that the difference between mughals and Muslims in general, mughals are mostly Muslim but not all Muslims are mughals!!
