This question is really haunting me - Is Singing as simple as making Popcorn?

I have been learning classical music for a long time now and very passionate about singing. Somewhere at the bottom of the heart i keep assuring myself that i shall learn and sing till the end of my life. I try to put lot efforts still feel i am not upto the mark. Because at times my own sur does not appeal to myself at all.

I think any singer will have this much of self introspection and is aware of his/her calibre and abilities.

But watching SRGMP every friday, murders the affinity, of the music lovers, towards the show. Its shocking, depressing and sighing.........

They have made a simple formula for singing just like making Popcorn. Good costumes, Appealing hairdos, unwanted wah wah's from mentors, screeming audience, lot of mirch masalas, affairs, hypes...................................................... WOOOOW and the song POPS-UP with different flavors. No connection with music i.e Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa at all.

I am sure the SRGMP at Sonu's time were much more professional and genuinely musical.

It was not about Sonu, it was about the format of the show. It was like a proper singing competition, with a respected judge giving out the verdict. So one learnt very little about contestants personal lives, there was no fashionable makeover. One did listen to a lot of good singing though. Now there is public voting, so naturally a lot more drama. And a lot less of singing. 😕

The trend has totally changed.. Now we have even shows recognizing Bathroom Singers 😕 😆 On a serious note, its not only the case of Saregamapa, its the case in all the reality shows.. For just earning money and showing that they recognize talent and give opportunity for youngsters, they start these shows.. Its nothing but business now.. Music is lost somewhere is the corner of the world.. We cannot expect much from these shows and just for timepass we watch these shows too and discuss about them. Probably its now we who have to change our minds and tune accordingly.. "Time changes the Time" 😊
