Chapter-5

I was stuck in a black room. I could not feel anything. My limbs felt numb, and only one thing that I can think about was my soul, my life partner. I need to get out of here, but how? There is no way I could escape this hell hole. I felt petrified, not for me, for her. Before the fear could paralyze all my senses, my remedy reached me.

"Rey!"

Her melancholic voice caught my senses before they could drown into the pool of dizziness. I tried to voice out her name, but my voice betrayed me. My hands twitched, wanting to bring her in my embrace, but my arms were held back. My legs wanted to run to her, but no. it was impossible to reach her. My vulnerability caught me, and with all my strength I screamed her name.

"Taani!"

I jerked up from my place. My hands lifted up to cover my face. I felt sweat all over my face. Before, I could think anymore, a soft touch on my shoulder caught my attention. I turned to see my life before me. She had a concerned look on her face. My hand automatically embraced. I know my embrace was tight enough to choke her, but that did not stop me. I wanted to feel her soft kin against mine. I wanted her sweet voice to whisper my name again and again. I wanted her heat to radiate in my cold body. I wanted to listen to her heart beat for me, forever.

"Sh! It was a bad dream, nothing more. I am here for you." Her voice had the edge. I know she was going to burst out if I remained like this anymore. I slowly moved out of her embrace, but my arms still remained encircled around her waist.

"You are never leaving me, okay?" My voice was demanding. i did not had any option. I wanted assurance. I wanted her to be with me. I wanted her to tell me that she is never leaving me.

"Taani will never leave you, Rey. Taani is incomplete without Rey." Her voice was firm, yet soft. It was utterly sincere. I know it was the truth. Her eyes held a genuine look. "Taarey are inspirable." That line made all my worries vanish. I knew she was by my side. My worst nightmare would be she not by my side. And, I am never letting it happen.

I felt my conscious beginning to wake, as tad bits of sound reached my ears. My eyes were still droopy with sleep. I opened my lids, taking in my surroundings. I was in my bed. The nightmare- it was not even a night- had passed by. I turned to look at the wall clock which showed 8:34 in the evening. Damn! I overslept. It must have been the fear that had crept within me that had refrain me from sleeping. hearing the noise again, I glided my feet on the floor. As I walked to the source of noise, the wooden flooring cold against my feet, making me shiver.

I entered the kitchen, anticipating my princess would be standing there with all her good looks. Indeed I saw her standing before the stove, making whatever dish she wanted for dinner. I slowly tip toes behind her, so she would not hear me. Once behind her, my arms winded around her waist, while my head rested on her shoulder. I was surprised that she was not scared for even once, instead, she calmly settled her head on my chest. Not that I mind.

"You are finally awake, sleepy head." She turned around with a sly smile on her lips. Her hands rested on my shoulders. Damn, I could be this way for forever.

"Yeah. I no longer could stay away from a pretty wife like you." I let out a cocky grin, whilst a blush adorned her cheeks. I felt proud to see the effect that I still had on her.

"Okay! Now, go and sit out, I will get the dinner out." She pushed me out before my protests could start.

We both had our dinner with our little flirting on. It was actually sweet that how she can be so childish. I just so wanted to hide her in my arms and never let her go. Never let this cruel world damage her innocence. But, being with me and hiding from evil, it was next to impossible. She was living with the devil himself.

"Rey?" I looked at the gorgeous girl before me. She had changed from her earlier clothes. Right now, she had a black night gown around her, giving her look more sexiness. Irresistible.

"Hm?" My voice was raspy. I did not intend it to be this way. But, the thirst to thrust within her over powered me. My ears yearned to hear her scream my name. But, that had to wait, but, not for long now. I will get a solution soon. I hope that it comes soon.

"You seem quite lost. Are you having something in mind?" Her face shone with worry. I extended my arm towards her; she instantly dropped herself in my arms. I loved it when she did that without hesitation. It made me feel that she had all the trust on me. And she did.

"Nothing, sweet heart. Just wondering how much I love ye." I smiled lovingly at her. I know my words affected her in every way possible. And, I love that. I loved everything about this girl.

"I love you too, my choco pie." Her nick names were something that I could never bear. But, looking at the face she made when she said them- eyes twinkling, a playful smirk on her lips- it was adorable. I could do anything to see that.

"Taani, I am taking you somewhere tomorrow, okay?" all the playfulness vanished around us with that one line. My voice was serious. It was necessary for us to go there. Finally after so much hard work, I can meet him. My eyes clung on Taani, wanting to see her reaction. She mostly knows that this was serious, I don't know how though. Maybe our love?

"What time?" her voice coated with hesitation. I know she had questions. But right now, it was not the right time. I gently threaded my finger with hers. Her lips, which were pressed in thin line, now carried a smile; beautiful and small.

"I don't know. I will let you know soon. And, stop worrying, baby. You will get answers to all your questions tomorrow." My assured voice calmed her nerves. Her body dropped against mine for support which I could always give. Her small, petite figure pressed against my hard, toned chest. It was something that I will always demand for.

"Let's sleep?" she looked up at me, hearing my question. Her eyes were tired, but her stubbornness was yet young.

"No. I don't want to sleep. We can talk for a while?" her voice was weary. Just as I was about to begin my protest, her small mouth opened, and then came a big yawn. My lips twitched up in a smirk. Her cheeks flared with a pink shade.

"Caught red handed. Time to sleep." Before she could say anything, I pulled her up bridal style and carried her to the bed.

I stared at the blankness before me as me and Taani laid on the bed. The room was dark with a no sound. Taani was sound sleep beside me. Her head rested on my chest, while my hands circled around her smooth waist. My mind was busy with different conclusions. The step that I am going to take tomorrow, how will everything go? My heart sank as my mind went to all negativities. All these thoughts drained me out of energy. My throat quenched with thirst. I gently untangled myself from Taani and sat up on bed. I extended my hands and took a hold of the glass that was kept on the bed side table. The water slid down my dry throat, creating a sense of wetness in my dried self.

Just as I was about to lay down on the bed, a tap was heard in the room. I looked around the dark room, which had a small glimpse of light emitted by the room through the curtains. I shook my head, concluding it was just my illusion. But, my answers were proved wrong, when a tap was again heard. This time, it was clearer. It came from the large, glass door which led to the balcony.

Doubtfully, I scrambled to the door. My doubts soon vanished as I heard the sound of fluttering of wings. I softly tugged at the knob of the door, sliding it open. Once I had a clear view of the night sky, illuminated by the beams of moon, my eyes fall on the flying figure who had tapped on the door. The white fur on it's skin were shining bright under the streaks of moon light. I got a glimpse of those beautiful black eyes after a millennium, I think. It is just exaggeration, I know. But still. It is hard to stay away from your lovely pet.

I extended my arm, such that Hedwig would settle on my forearm. His claws were quite sharp. I actually had a feeling of getting of some scratches. The message roll that he was carrying was now in my other hand. I patted his head and walked inside. It had been quite some days since I last saw him. The journey sure took him a lot time.

After placing Hedwig, which is a species of an owl, in his cage, I settled on the study chair. I took a swift glance at the sleeping figure on the bed. Her eyes were still closed. I turned and focused my vision on the paper roll in my hands. I extended and switched the study lamp on.

With a little trembling hands, and excitement with free nervousness, I opened the string that kept the roll in its shape. Instantly, it loosened. I opened it properly. Finally the roll opened and my eyes darted on the hand writing of the person who can save me and complete our wishes- mine and Taani's.

How are you son? I know, it does not make sense asking this question. But, the formalities are necessary. I received the letter you sent. I know this day will come. I had always dreaded this day. I know you want answers to your so many questions. I have no problem in answering those questions. I know this day would eventually turn up, and here it is.

You have always been an efficient student, boy. And, you deserve the explanation. You can come and visit me, soon.

Your answers are waiting, son. Come and take them.

I closed my eyes, as a single tear escaped my eye, and slid down my smiling lips. Finally I can have my answers. I can know what had happened years ago that had led my life this way. My body could not contain the excitement. It felt too good to be true. But, that was worth it. After years of waiting, my answers will be before me. I could know all of them. My happiness was beyond the horizon.

With the smile still lingering on my face, I kept the precious paper in my drawer and took off for bed. My movements could easily display how excited I was. I felt like a teenager again; the adolescent boy who would get his bike, soon. But, mine was no other case. I would get my happiness tomorrow; our happiness.

I slipped in the bed again, but this time with full sleep. I crossed my arms around Taani- my wife, my world. She had a small smile on. I pecked her forehead and drifted to deep slumber.

HEGWID- A type of owl. It is generally used as a messenger. It has white fur. It is known for it's speed, and skills of taking the message to the correct address without actually knowing the recipients address.
