Very good discussion topic. This is something I've been pondering about as well.
I know there are conflicting views on who Ishaan should be with or how Urmi's life should turn out.I just wanted to share my thoughts on this topic, here goes:Lets start with the crux of the show - Urmi's journey. The show started with Urmi's rosey ideas of love and marriage and her impending marriage to wealthy, egoistic Samrat. Over time Urmi realizes her dreams and expectations of married life are far from reality and she has married an animal. We then see the issue of domestic violence being addressed, lack of family support, victim shaming and everything else that constitutes a repressive society. We see Urmi finally garnering the courage to stand up for herself, her self respect and fight back.In my opinion this should remain the focus of the show - how Urmi garners courage to stand up to this brute she married, how strangers really are saviors in your time of need and how your so called own people don't flinch to turn their back on you. These are all harsh realities of life. The show is bringing this to the forefront which I believe is very good and it should be enlightening for countless women who are in this mess. It should inspire such women and give them hope of a better life and better days and break free.In such a scenario I don't find Urmi and Ishaan pairing to be appropriate. Yes Ishaan is a better person than Samrat - he doesn't degrade women, but he did encourage the Urmi - Samrat marriage and he hid the truth from Urmi - no wonder he has a guilty conscious. In my opinion I feel Ishaan should help Urmi as a true friend, someone who really does stand up for her and helps her. Romantic feelings are misplaced and inappropriate though yes there are instances where sympathy, kindness compassion are all mistaken for romantic interest - I really hope CVs clear that up and show that Ishaan is just being a friend to Urmi.Based on the trajectory of the show Ishaan's entry is actually sending the wrong message - yes he is a better person, yes he means well for Urmi, yes he's a key witness to Samrat's philandering ways however his re-entry is in a way giving Urmi an easy way out.Not that I want to see her suffer more or anything like that but why can't an adult male and adult female be platonic friends? Why is the only person that comes forward to help her - Ishaan? It could have been another character like the Tiwari's son or nephew for example - to show that yes there are good people out there and they can be completely platonic friendships. Why does Urmi need a male "friend" or messiah? Why couldn't Trisha be reintroduced? They changed the actor that plays Ishaan why not have replaced the actress that plays Trisha? Now coming to Anu - Ishaan angle - that is ridiculous. Anu has held a candle for Ishaan - she's thought of him, dreamed of being with him and fantasized about him. However her feelings towards Ishaan can not be labeled as love. She was attracted to him, infatuated by him but it seems like its an infatuation that never went away.Though I like Ishaan and have nothing against Anu i really don't think its fair to see Ishaan reciprocating her feelings - that will send the wrong message to young impressionable girls that sure hold a candle for a guy and in due time he'll fall in love with you.Anu needs a reality check but more importantly she needs to grow up emotionally. What happened to the dude her parents set her up with - that would have been a good story line to see Anu pining away and Ishaan not responding the new guy patiently befriending Anu and showing her what true love is meant to be like - its not about the stuff u read in books or see in movies - its about the connection and two people who mean the world to each other. Those are my thoughts - sorry for the long post!
