Which actors excel in both comedy and drama?

We all know comedy is probably the hardest thing for any actor to do, that's probably why they say if you can do comedy successfully you can do anything else.

I can't think of anyone else besides Tabu who excelled in both, yeah Aamir is good but besides AAA what other role did he blow you away? Because that movie had a strong supporting cast.


From the newbies, it seems like most of them lack this! We have Ranbir who failed to impress with not one but two movies, Shahid Kapoor who also failed, Ranveer, Arjun, SidM Sushant haven't really tried but I doubt they will be any good either. Which brings us to Varun, he did MTH effortlessly and now has Badlpur coming up, if he aces this role he will be ahead of all his contemporaries.


How important is to pull off both? Can you really call an actor who fails at one the best actor?

Ranbir was excellent in comedy in APKGK. Action - maybe not till now.
I wouldn't call MTH as a comic role for Varun.

From the ladies I think Kajol and Rani are pretty good at both. I personally found Kajol hilarious in K3G...and Rani has been funny in her comical roles as well.

I think Ranbir sucked in APKGK, he looked forced throughout the movie. He's usually effortless in his movies, but that's one movie he came off all stiff.

If you can't call MTH comedy, what can you call it? 😆 It was over the top silly comedy, ones David D is known for

From the new girls Parineeti can do comedy and drama and that's been proven with Ishaqzaae and her first film. I think Anushka could pull off both too.

The new guys are all limited - maybe only Sushant andVarun could do both.

Anushka and Pari, haven't really done anything impressive IMO. Anushka is good actress no doubt but she has long way to go but IA she has the most potential to be good at both.

I haven't seen a lot of Kajol's movies outside the ones she has done with KJo and SRK!

None of these BW actresses are versatile.

Anupam Kher, Paresh Rawal, Rhitesh Deshmukh

Angel like devil- SRK in Don was good, and if I remember correctly a lot of his earlier roles in the 90s were comic roles which he was decent at. But he hasn't really excelled in comedy or action like he did with Romance. When I say excel I mean someone like Bryan Cranston who did Malcom in the middle and Breaking bad. Do we have anyone like that in BW?

I haven't seen any of Fawad's work but I will take your word for it 😆
