side in the upcoming film. Be ready to bid
adieu to Varun's chocolate boy persona, as
here come Raghu and he's ready to kick
some butt!
When I first saw the poster of Badlpaur, I was
intrigued to see Varun Dhawan's brawny and
intense form. Having an image of him as
Humpty or Rohan from his previous films, the
new way in which he is being presented is
refreshing as well as pleasantly surprising to
see. I have now seen the official teaser of the
film, and boy am I blown away! Though there
are many actors who will be flogging to the
streets of B-town next year, here are 5 reasons
why I feel Varun will be the next big thing: A
smart move
An actor is always appreciated and
remembered for the versatility he displays.
Looking at Varun's past few films, I got the
impression of him being stuck in the rut of the
chocolate boy saga. The actor has now chosen
to shed the same and bring forth a
transformed self. It's a risk yes, but playing safe
is too mainstream as it is. I believe the actor
will get applauded for pushing his limits and
going beyond the expected.
When abs do the talking
While I'm already digging the actor's scruffy
look, his six pack abs from a scene in the video
remind me of what a drool worthy bod looks
like. There are many leading men in B-town
with bulging biceps and chiseled bodies, but the
non commercial way in which Varun's physique
is presented is appealing. With a spine chilling
look and a motive to kill, the actor leaves me
wanting to see what happens next.
"Murder ke lela hai"
This is a prime moment in the entire teaser.
Upon being stopped by a cop asked on whether
Raghu has had much to drink, the latter shakes
his head and plainly says," Murder ke lela hai (I
have commited a murder) The sheer casualty
with which Varun says the words, convince me
of the immense potential the actor has to
showcase. The same has been tapped on by
director Sriram Raghavan who has given a
chance to the lad to show what he's got!
And there will be blood
A scene in the video showcases Varun beating
the bloody guts out of a person. The anguish
and wrath displayed by the actor here, amazes
me and makes me look forward to learn how
he had the gall to commit a crime like this in
the film. When an actor convinces you to
anticipate an incident, I believe he must have
done something right.
Being Raghu
Though I'm no expert to judge an actor's
performance, I have always maintained that
there is a difference between playing a role
and being it. Seeing Varun as Raghu in this
video, it persuades me to believe that the actor
truly became his character for the film.
All in all, if tit bits of Varun's performance in
Badlapur have already propelled me to come
up with 5 reasons to sing praises for him, the
final show should definitely be worth a watch.
