Who Should Pay on a Restaurant Date?

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but..

A man asks a woman out and she accepts. He ends up taking her on a date. They go to a fancy restaurant. They have fun eating and generally enjoying eachother's company. Then the bill comes. He turns to her and says
"So how are we going to settle this?"
The woman is surprised and gives him her credit card, she tells him to do what he feels is right. She excuses herself and goes to the bathroom. Her date ends up using her credit card to pay for everything and she never goes out with him again......................😃😉

My question is:
1) On a date who pays? Does this only apply to a
first date?
2) Do you believe in going "dutch"
3) What happened to the line "I'm Miss Independent"?

😃

I think going dutch is the ideal way out during dating. having a nice time is okay but taking some one's ehsaan....naa baba naaaa 😳

of course, things change when you are engaged or going on a date with your hubby. phir koi bhi pay karey, bottomline to same hee rehtee hai na 😆

Aww I love this topic 😛

One of my very good friends firmly belives that a date is not a date if the guy does not pay. 😃 And that's how the dating system is usuallly set up. The man in the picture gets broke if you keep having "dates" for couple years and then get married. There are a few besharam girls who just don't mind as long as they are getting sumptuous meals . And then, they take out rallies saying "We are independent."

Personally, I feel that since the date involves two individuals, only one person should not be held responsible for the expenses. Since the norm of dating is that the guy pays, the first time should be that way. But after that, it should be equally divided or they can take turns to pay for the food/whatever.

But Vinuji, the guy in your example is just rude. The girl gives the credit card and he pays the whole bill with it? I would rather not say anything.

My friend was dating this one guy a couple months back. She was a very feminist girl and very strong-headed. The guy was extrememly chivalric and thought it was just wrong that the girl should pay and he just would not let her ever pay for anything. There was little that she could do about it. Then, one fine day, he says that he no longer has money and she needs to pay for all the meals now. 😆 The girl was just 😲 when the first place he asked her to take him to was Olive Garden 😆. These people are 19 by the way!

But anyway, in summation, this should be worked out prior to going anywhere and girls should always stand up for themselves and not let the man always dominate the financial area!

I reach out in my pocket even for a friends night out , i dont think its even a subject of discussion , reach out in your pockets, ofcourse if the lady insists for a split , have it that way too , but never does the lady pay.

1. Definitely not any of the dater's pop 😛 (i remember the barista crowd in 2003, clearly having no income of their own but bringing dates for a cup of coffee worth 100 bucs)

2. The one who asked the other out on a date should pay, me thinks. Man / woman doesn't matter.

3. Blind date should be split 50-50 and that can be decided ahead of time..

4. a reality show can pay for it if you are pretty enough and willing to make a fool of yourself as a bachelor / a bachelorette / joe millionaire / similar / part of the crowd 😉

are you kidding it is forever, till the man goes broke or gets married(then he is broken😆) that theory of money is nothing in front of Luv is a theory😆

2) Do you believe in going "dutch" "beleive bhai, beleive karna aur implement karne me bahut phark hai".

We had a rule, if someone goes out for a date, he gets no interest loans from roomates for the month but does the dishes at home😆

3) What happened to the line "I'm Miss Independent"?
The logic "When it helps use it in your favor, when not fold it in put in the box to reuse it" takes precedence over "I'm Miss Independant"😆

If everything about the date is planned together, that is, say both girl and boy pick the restaurant, then go dutch. If it is one person's plan then be ready to pay for both as the other might find it too expensive or might not like the place so they shouldn't have to pay for it. After a few dates, when things get more serious... things change, more casual and informal...and then it is all about who reaches for their wallet first...hehe...😆 ...IMO... I would go dutch on the first few dates... as I would not want the boy to pay for me or vice versa... hehe...it is hard-earned money that should be respected... 😊 ...if going dutch seems embarrassing i.e sitting at the table with the calculator trying to divide the bill 😆😆😆... then who pays for the date should alternate, with one person paying for first date, the other for the next and so on...
