CHAPTER 8

One week later

Navya was sitting in her room after preparing the afternoon meal. She was a reading a magazine when an article caught her eye. It was written that "In today's world, men are fascinated by working women as it reflects their personality and their presence of mind. If there girlfriend/wife is a working woman, they share a sense of understanding which smoothens their relationship and they feel free to keep their thoughts infront of each other."

It reminded her of Anant's words. "But you know what; you can still apply for jobs. I like independent women".

"I think I should say a yes to him." Thought Navya and smiled.

After having dinner, Anant was sitting on the bed and was working on his laptop. Navya came and sat beside him.

"How was your day?" Asked Navya.

"It was a bit hectic, yours?" Replied Anant without looking at her and deeply engrossed in his work.

"It was good." Navya smiled. "Anant, I have decided to work."

He stopped typing and looked at her.

"What? Really?" Anant asked a bit astonish.

She nodded back in reply.

"That's great. I'll have a word with Maa and Papa regarding this and then will search for some walk-in-interviews for you. Okay?"

"Jii." Smiled Navya.

"Vaise.. what made you take this decision? Is it because I said so or...?" He looked at her in a teasing way.

"Na..nahi aapki vajah se nahi. It's just my wish." Replied Navya and looked away embarrassed. She wondered how Anant got to know this. Meanwhile Anant smiled looking at her confused expression as he knows what she must be thinking now.

The next day, Anant talked to his parents. Om readily agreed to it while Sugandha was a bit reluctant at first. She was like who will manage the household chores but then Navya assured her mother-in-law that she will manage both. She gave a slight nod and went from there which Om told them to take it as her acceptance.

Few days went in searching for a right job. Anant used to take Navya during his break hours for her interviews and then finally Navya got a call one day about her getting a job in the finance department.

In order to celebrate this good news, Anant took Navya out for dinner.

"Thanks Anant." Said Navya. She was wearing a yellow colored saree with silver embroidery looking as elegant as ever.

"Phirse thanks! Ab maine aisa kya kar dia?" Said Anant making a fake pissed off face. He was wearing a dark blue colored shirt and black jeans.

"Arae" Navya pulled a face. "I know you don't like formalities n all but this was a much needed thankyou'. Agar aapne mujhpar bharosa na rakha hota toh mujhe kabhi job nahi mil paati."

"I always have faith in you, Navya but this time it wasn't me. It was your potential, your faith in yourself which made you get this job. So all credit goes to you ma'am." Chuckled Anant.

They had a lovely dinner together talking about her job.

"Ye lijiye ma'am. Aapka office aa gaya." Smiled Anant as he stopped the car infront of Navya's office.

She smiled at him and got down from the car. Anant also came out.

"This is for you." Said Anant and handed her a present.

"Ye kisliye, Anant?"

"It's for your first day in your office. Now open it and see."

Navya opened the wrapper and a big smile grew on her lips. It was a little golden colored laughing Buddha.

"I gave you this for two reasons. First for good luck and second..."

"And second for?"

"The second one is for your smile. You should always have a big smile on your face just like him.. ho..ho..hahaha.." Anant mimicked it. Navya started laughing hearing him.

Anant noticed her laugh. She seemed to be laughing so freely for the first time. He kept on looking at her and was lost in her beauty. Her laugh spread a smile on his lips automatically. Navya stopped laughing as she saw him looking at her. She blushed a little.

"Anant you should go now otherwise you will get late for your office."

"Hmm.." He came closer to her and cupped her face and gave a soft kiss on her forehead.

"Bye. Take care." He smiled and drove from there. A small tear of happiness came in Navya's eyes. She mentally thanked God for sending Anant in her life. She didn't know whether they were friends anymore or have become something more now but something has developed between them and that is immense concern and understanding.

As Navya entered inside the office, she got bumped into someone.

She was shocked to see that person. It was Ritika.

"Rits, tu yaha?"

"Navya tu."

They hugged each other like long lost friends. Both of them were so happy to see each other.

"How come you are here?" They almost asked together breaking the hug.

"I got transferred from Calcutta branch."

"And I got a job here."

"This means we are going to work in the same office. Wow Navya, I am so happy yaar."

"Same here Rits." Replied Navya. Both beamed with happiness.

Suddenly they heard the sound of "good morning sir" greetings from the employees. They turned back to see the person. He was a tall, well-built good looking man in a three piece suit. By now they have guessed that he is only the CEO of the company. Ritika seemed to have liked him at the first sight itself.

He stopped by them.

"Good Morning, sir." Greeted Navya and Rits.

"Morning. New employees? Okay well I think you don't know who I am as Rohit might have taken your interviews. So let me introduce myself, I am Ranbir Singh, the CEO of this company."

Said Ranbir with a firm smile. "Aprajita, come here."

A girl slightly short in height wearing glasses came and stood beside him.

"This is Aprajita, my PA. She will assign your respective works."

He dictated her something and went from there. Rits was still lost in him and was blankly staring at his retreating figure.

"Hi! I am Aprajita, you can call me Appy." Smiled Appy.

"Hi Appy, I am Ritika call me Rits and she is Navya."

"Hi Appy." Said Navya.

"Nice to meet you both. Come with me, I will show your work desks." Said Appy and they followed her.

Soon Navya and Rits became friends with Appy and the trio shared a great repo with each other. They used to go out for coffee. Navya loved to work in the office as she had two great companions with her. Ranbir was really impressed with her work and there were short eye-locks between Ritika and Ranbir which didn't go unnoticed by Navya and Appy.

Everyday Navya used to share about how her day passed in office with Anant. He used to smile back at her but somewhere he was feeling a bit left out. He was happy for her but somewhere sad seeing the distance growing b/w them. Navya didn't notice this as she was really happy with the new changes. She was a hard-working girl from the childhood itself and here she was well appreciated by her seniors in her office which was increasing confidence in her.

One day Navya was over timing in her office as she was working on a presentation and wanted to finish it by today. The whole office has left but she was still there. Normally, Ritika used to drop her home as it was not possible for Anant to pick her due to his late office ending hours but today Ritika also left after Navya assured her that she will surely leave after finishing her work.

It was 10:00 o' clock now.

Anant pressed the doorbell but nobody opened the door. His whole family has gone on a pilgrimage yatra for a week and the servants were on leave and Navya always reaches home before him.

"Why she isn't opening?" Thought Anant and suddenly noticed the lock on the door.

"Navya abhi tak ghar nahi aayi. Kaha reh gayi hogi."

He called her but it was unreachable. He got worried for her.

"Maybe she is still in the office but why so late?" Thought Anant as he came down and sat inside his car.

"Auto..auto.." Navya tried to stop another rickshaw but not a single one was stopping.

"Uff I didn't even realize the time. Anant must be worried for me. I should call him." She quickly took her cell out to call him but then found the battery dead.

"What to do now?" Thought Navya and it began to rain which added to her misery. She got completely drenched within few minutes.

It was an isolated road and the loafers were passing from there giving her dirty glares which scared her to hell.

"I wish Anant was here." Thought Navya helplessly as tears came in her eyes.

Anant was on his way driving at a break neck speed as all the bad thoughts have started coming into his mind now. He was hell worried for Navya and wanted to reach her as quickly as possible.

Okay guys this was a long boring update but I needed to update this part as the story has to build up its pace and I would like to tell you that there is romance in the next part 😳😉
