After the unfortunate and untimely death of Phil Hughes, should there be helmets which should be more safe for cricketers?

I read this in the newspaper today... it was appalling to say the least.
However, the newspaper said he was wearing a helmet of last year's model, the latest one offers more protection or so they say. I think the authorities should see to it that the players wear upgraded protection time-to-time.
Definitely the helmets/other protective gears will get a review and a revamp to offer more protection now... This incident has sent shockwaves and all the cricket players will now have a fear inside, a psychological impact...so a new design or better design is bound to come up.

There is no doubt about that. A life is much more important than anything.
It's really sad what happened.

RIP. May his soul rest in peace.
Sad that the ball struck the artery slightly below the area protected by the helmet.
Well either they wear better helmets or use balls that do not pose a serious danger or threat.
Also, perhaps there should be better protective gear for other body areas too.

Yes ,It's time to review the safety measures. But again he was hit in the neck so I doubt it whether a helmet would be of much use unless it covers the upper neck .A helmet with a protective shield in the back might work ,provided it's not too clumsy so that it get's in the way.
