| Shuttling between Smriti Irani and Gautami Kapoor is the poor character of Tulsi Virani who is yet to know, like many of us, how Smriti would take her back on. With both Smriti and Ekta Kapoor seem to have realised that they cannot survive without each other. This means we might just see Smriti back as Tulsi. But what about Gautami? | ||
| "I would step down if Smriti returns," she says graciously. Smriti, on the other hand, is confident that she's the only face that can hold up Tulsi in popular imagination. "There cannot be a Tulsi other than me" and "Tulsi will die with me" is what she had declared years ago when asked if she would quit Kyunkii. | ||
| Imagining a situation in which she is back, here are a few tale twists that would happen to Kyunkii. Explains Nivedita Basu, creative head of the show: "We have just hinted that Gautami may not be Tulsi but JK Thakral's (Ram Kapoor) wife Juhi. Mihir, too, is shocked to find Juhi's pictures and tries to talk to Tulsi but fails. Eklavya, on the other hand has informed Tanya, Trupti and Damini that Gautami is not the real Tulsi." | ||
| One, Gautami could be shown as Tulsi's (Smriti) friend who was sent by her to take revenge. Two, Gautami could be planted by Meera or Mandira to wreak havoc in Smriti's (Tulsi) life. Three, Gautami is actually Thakral's wife Juhi and Smriti is the real Tulsi. | ||
| But considerations like these should not lead us to suppose that something even more drastic cannot happen in the story. After all, the show, Tulsi in particular, is the brainchild of the queen of twists on Indian television. In what could be the second coming for Smriti Irani, her entry might also be decorated with such grandeur that uncomfortable questions would take a side berth. | ||
| You may wonder why all the hysteria and the hype was created barely a couple of months ago, when Smriti decided to quit. Or was it just a publicity gimmick? Whatever it is, Ekta has managed to pull it off once again with elan but the show seems to have lost the momentum generated by Smriti. | ||
| So, she decided to mix reel with real. She roped in Gautami, a relatively fresh face as Tulsi. And once Gautami was in, small screen's blue-eyed boy and Gautami's real-life husband Ram Kapoor's entry was just a matter of time. | ||
| If Smriti does come back, Ekta will have more than one reason to be happy. She will not only make her audience regain the dropping interest in the show, but will also have the new jodi to bank upon. Touted as the Abhi-Ash of small screen, Gautami and Ram could be another addition to the Virani clan. Wait and watch. The rising curve of drama followed by the sudden calamity and the slow decline had the effect of a tragedy.
