DP skipped Arpita's wedding to avoid Katrina?

Deepika Padukone's absence from Salman Khan's sister Arpita Khan's wedding hasn't gone unnoticed. The actress, who has been shooting for Amitabh Bachchan starrer Piku, blamed her busy schedule for being unable to make it to the wedding of the year.

Undoubtedly the shooting of Piku has been keeping the lead actors occupied. But there is a section of the industry that's claiming that Deepika chose to stay away from the big wedding because of a certain Katrina Kaif's equation with the Khan family and her inevitable, larger than life presence at various ceremonies. Deepika has been trying to build bridges between her and Salman and Arpita's wedding would have been the apt occasion to seal the deal. Close sources that attended the wedding reveal that she feared being overshadowed by her ex-boyfriend's current girlfriend.

"It was a tough call. If she could have, she would have been present at the wedding. Deepika genuinely likes Salman as an actor and as a person," says a close source of the actress. Among others who failed to make it were Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor.

DP was in HT summit on the day of reception & she is not close enough to Khan Khandaan nor is she ex, costar or friend of Salman that she will be invited to the wedding.
