Sorry guys... Thought to complete the ss... There is just one or two chapters left... But read all the requests for update... So here goes.
Actually you know the thing is that I get so attached to the story I am writing that I forget about the others. I think you readers should decide which ff I should write to completion first. Since I don't remember all the ffs😳please somebody take over and create a poll or something... Or better yet just comment on this thread... Only one ff that you would like me to complete first. I shall go with majority.
Chapter 20
Ragav is on a conference call with Sammy and Maya.
Maya says sarcastically, "I hear congratulations are in order."
Flushing with emberrassment, Ragav replies, "thank you."
Sammy buts in and says sharply, "you are being rude Maya!"
Ragav says, "let it be Sam. Just don't forget you guys don't know that I and Kalpi are married. Now coming to Prem and Priya..."
Maya interrupts, "we shall get there but first things first... What is going on between you and Kalpi? Are you using her?"
Ragav retorts sharply, "I am not going to explain Kalpi. Keep her out of this."
Maya huffs and Sammy replies, "yea good idea. This is getting too murky. Maya tell us what happened when prem went to meet priya."
Shrugging, she says, "nothing happened. She rejected him. As expected."
Sammy and Ragav reply in unison, "what do you mean as expected?"
Sighing, Maya continues, "Ragav you didn't stick to the plan nor did you update us on what is going on until too late. we were working on Priya to realise that prem does emotions, that he is a warm guy who invests a hundred percent in a relationship... That he is kind, considerate... Basically to be honest all the things you are not. We planned for you to take a step back so that she would not feel guilty about it. What did you do?"
Feeling like a heel, Ragav answers sheepishly, "Kalpi happened. In my defence I didn't plan it. I didn't even realise. In fact Priya played a big hand in making me realise."
"Exactly," Maya says, "you kissed her and called out Kalpi's name."
"No I did not," Ragav denied vhemlmently.
"She told me everything that happened,"Maya snaps, then continues, "you may have not been aware that you did it, but you did it. You were supposed to stay away from her, be the absent, unfeeling boyfriend. Yet you went to her. Lucky you she rejected you and broke up with you. What would you have done if she said yes let us get married. Don't even bother explaining yourself. There is no explanation."
Sammy interrupts, "Maya take a breather for a minute will you. You are getting emotional."
"That's because I am angry," she snaps.
"Ragav what happened in January that just messed everything up," Sammy asks calmly.
Ragav closes his eyes in agony as he replays the events when he had gone to Priya's home, hoarsely he says, "Kalpi happened. She blew me away. I...I..."
"Exactly," Maya says, "you were hit so hard that you no longer made sense. Since Priya realised it, her focus and energy went in helping you understand what was going on in your life. And because of that she never got to think about her life. The way you went about replacing her with Kalpi. Do you honestly think she's going to do the same thing with me? She is going to keep prem a mile away."
"Oh gosh, what have I done," Ragav says in agony, "I should have..."
Maya snaps, "should have... Could have... It is too late now. I hope Kalpi is worth this mess!"
"Don't you dare speak about the woman I lo... I married like that. She is my wife," Ragav snaps angrily.
Shocked, Ragav thinks, "omg I love her... No not possible... omg I have fallen for her." His heart racing, he tries to calm himself, "no you don't... It is just lust... Attraction... Oh shit... Would I marry somebody I just wanted in bed... No I would not... Oh shit I am in trouble... I have fallen in love."
Lost in thought, Ragav is oblivious the rest of the conversation.
Sammy says, "Maya you are going too far. Just because he is allowing you to express your frustration over the failure of our plan does not mean you should cross the line."
"I am sorry," Maya says, "you are right. Ragav please accept my apology."
Receiving no response, she says, "Ragav... Ragav... Ragav..."
"Sorry guys, I just realised something,"his voice expressing his shock, "I have fallen in love."
Chuckling, Maya says, "we know. We realised when you told us you married Kalpi. Now let us focus on Priya."
"Yes of course. What do you guys think my next step should be," Ragav asks.
"Nothing," Sammy says, "you stay out of it now. Maya I think you should find a way of breaking your engagement with prem. Maybe with prem and Priya being single something can happen."
"Sam what reason do I give. Prem is an amazing guy. It has to be a realistic reason that everybody will accept," Priya says.
Sammy replies, "look it is late. We are all emotionally drained and tired. Let us sleep on it."
"Sammy's idea has got merit Maya. Maybe we should play this by the ear. When you feel you have a valid reason, play the break up card," Ragav says.
"Hmmm. Fine let's see how it goes. I am spending the night here at Priya's. Let's see. Goodnight guys," Maya says
Sammy, Ragav say, "goodnight."
Maya hangs up and starts pacing to and fro in the guest room. "Damn," she mutters, "how do I go about this now." Taking a deep breathe she walks out of the guest room. On the way to the kitchen to get herself a glass of water, Maya notices Priya standing by the window in the lounge, staring out into darkness. Concerned, she walks up to her and says softly, "what's up? Where are you lost?"
Startled Priya turns towards her, quickly wiping her tears, giving her a weak smile, saying, "are you comfortable? Would you like some hot chocolate?" Frowning Maya says, "I hate Ragav. Why are you crying over him? In fact you should be happy... Good riddance." Maya winces as she curses Ragav for she knows that Ragav is not the cause of Priya's tears.
Shaking her head, priya says, "Ragav is not the reason I am crying. It is because of..." She stops mid sentence, thinking, "omg I can't tell Maya about prem." Giving Priya a sad smiles, Maya completes her sentence, "because of prem."
"I... What.. How... Huh..." Priya stutters away, confused, wondering how does Maya know that prem is the reason for her tears. "Come sit,"Maya says softly. Once seated, she looks into eyes that are confused... Eyes searching to understand... Taking a deep breathe, she lies, "I over heard your conversation with prem." Reading the distress in Priya's eyes, Maya tears up, her guilt eating at her for the role she is playing in hurting her friend. Priya quickly reassures her, "I would never come between you two, you know that right. Please tell me you believe me."
Feeling like a heel, Maya tells herself, "focus on the future... Focus on Priya's happiness. You can do it." Then says allowed, "we have known each other this past one year... And without any doubt I can say that you are my best friend. I know you would never come between me and prem." relief pouring into her, Priya says, "I will answer any questions you have. Prem is a wonderful person and don't you ever doubt that." Maya looks at Priya and says reassuringly, "I have no questions, but if you feel comfortable I would like to know. I am curious and I would like to understand... Just so that there future misunderstandings don't crop up between prem and myself."
Smiling softly, Priya tells Maya everything as they sip some hot chocolate. Behaving like she did not know any of this before, Maya responds accordingly. At the end of it all, after Priya bares her heart out, Maya asks, "did you never fall for him? He sounds so perfect... So easy to love... Ignore me... I am talking crazy... You were in love with Ragav."
Standing up and pulling Priya along, Maya says, "it is really. I think we should call it a night."
