On her first day.
She wanted to wring the neck of her boss who was horrible by the way- a Raj Nayak..
The computer's enter key was not working, her lunch spilled all over the floor.
So all in all,one could conclude that her day was not going well.
And when she returned home, she was glad for once. Cause no one was home.
She quickly changed into her ducky pyjamas and a tub of bavarian chocolate icecream. Her hair tied up in a bun, she started her laptop. The screen came to life and there it was. The bane of her existence. It showed them in a passionate embrace.
She dragged her cursor and clicked on a folder named Beintehaa.
A tear escaped her eye as she realised it was the last day she would see them onscreen. Last day when she would wait miserably for her favourite show to air. The last day she would see her favourite lead romance together. The last day when she would have to watch the serial without waking up her husband. The last day she would have to grin conspicously in front of the TV because Zain would tease her mercilessly.
So for two full hours, she replayed her favourite scenes of her favourite couple of her favourite show. She cried with them, laughed with them, fangirled on the male lead, sympathised, analysed, cooed and cursed before she could take it no more. Her tub of ice cream lay forgotten in the whole ordeal.
Good, she thought.. I would definately need that later.
She shut her laptop and looked at the clock- 9pm. There was a time when she used to squeal in delight when she saw the clock strike nine. Now she had to wait for two more f**king hours.
The bell rang, reminding her of te sad existence of the real world with its bucket load of real problems.
"Oh-oh." Zain said as he entered the threshold.
"What?"
"Ducky pj's? What's wrong?"
"Nothing." She replied curtly, not in any mood to disclose her problems.
Zain being zain, shrugged. She would come to him later when things escalted.
"Khane mein kya hai?" He asked, loosening his tie.
She froze.
"Umm..khana nai banaya.. I forgot."
"You forgot to make food?" He asked incredulously.
She bit her lip and nodded.
"But-" he stopped, noticing her red rimmed eyes and incredibly red nose.
"Pizza sounds good?" He asked. He may be an inconsiderate ass, but he was not that much of an inconsiderate ass.
As the clock struck ten-fifty, she glance covertly at Zain who was busy doing his office work.
She quitely slipped out of the room, grabbed her ice-cream again and quitely switched on the television. Entranced for half an hour, it hit her like a train when there was no precap.
Beintehaa had ended. Now what?
The disclaimer of the next show irritated her like hell and she switched off the telly.
Then she realised she had forgotten to record it.
Poor Aaliya, the day took its toll on her as she watched her reflection cry in the TV.
"Aaliya, chai cha-" he stopped short as he saw his wife cry on the sofa.
Concerned, he rushed to her and engulfed in her in his arms.
"Kya hua?"
"Kha- kha"
"Kya?"
"Khatam ho gaya!" She bawled, clutching his tee.
"Kya khatam hua Mamu ki Bhanji?"
"Beintehaa." She wailed.
"Oh." Was all he said. Sure,he knew about his wife's obsession with that serial. She used to fight tooth and nail with him during FIFA, he usually ended up watching the matches online. He sometimes found himself getting jealous of the male lead of the show and just to bug her off,he would comment on the female lead. Her eyes used to glitter dangerously. He loved pissing her off.
But this was weirdness of a whole new level.
But he loved her. All of her. So his tee acted like her personal handkercheif all night.
