I am not marble-crazy. stains and scratches and chips too easily.

In america, I like PERGO / TILE - easy to take care of, looks great!
Carpets may be great for some rooms you like to keep cozy.

Actually nowadays in Canada its all hardwood or bamboo floors...... with a small carpet as a centrepiece. Easy to clean, very hygenic and above all people with allergies are free from them. 😛 People are stripping carpets for this new look.

Marble looks cooler, but if you fall on it, you will surely get hurt pretty bad... Carpet is pretty good, except for if you get stains on them, they're hard to get off! 😉

hardwood floors, except for the issue with cold floor in winters... carpet = allergies. 😃 marble floors esp in india... they look cool, but can see foot prints when you walk on marble after mopping. 😆

Marble, Travertine and Hardwood floors are in and it is all about the decor and personal choices. Weather and maintenance are deciding factors too. Carpets are usually in certain part of homes. I have noticed e. coast homes mostly have hardwood floors and area rugs. West coast u will see alot more Marble-Travertine and even some Granite flooring. Hardwood flooring is becoming very popular too on w. coast. Even wainscoting is becoming extremely popular on w. coast.

So in short it is personal choice and the decor. All have their pros-cons. No luxury-Luxery is unpunished IMHO 😛

why aren't carpets hygenic? you should vaccuum at least twice a week and clean them at once a year.....nothing wrong with that.

i myself prefer carpet. i cant stand hardwoods in bedrooms, just not comfortable enough. plus in our family room we have carpet. its a place where we sit on the floor to read a book, our kids roll around there, play etc etc.

in the kitchen we have tiles and hardwoods in the living room and dining room.......i have it all baby! 😆

marble would be tooooooooo cold here in the winter.

Hardwood floors

I personally prefer marble flooring. It looks great and has a sense of luxury to it. But we have carpet in our house because marble flooring would be too cold in the winter.

Marble floor -very difficult to maintain but looks good

Carpet- Easy to maintain, cheap, but cause allergy.

Best flooring is hard wood flooring, but expensive in US.
