Friends, I was not too thrilled with yesterday's episode. It was just about so-so ... partly because the stage was set for Salim to be punished and the ending was supposed to leave us in suspense ... but we had a spoiler article yesterday saying exactly how Jalal would punish Salim (by sending him to live in Kadir's house and watch their suffering) that there was no real suspense left!
I don't like the sound of the article on the matter of Ruq's involvement in the whole issue either.
Apparently in today's episode, when Jalal punishes Salim, Jodha will feel bad for him but understand Jalal's motives, whereas Ruq will try to "teach Jalal"(huh!) what an accident is by throwing an arrow at him that nearly misses him. And thus Ruq hopes to give Jalal some demonstration of why Salim should not be punished for an accident. But the article also says Jalal ignores this "drama" and still goes ahead with his punishment of Salim.
Does Ruq have some ounce of shame and self-esteem? Even yesterday, in the episode, when Jalal was asking Kadir's grandma the name of the boy who hurt him, and the Grandma said it was Salim, the Shehzada and Walihaad, did you all see how Ruq piped in from behind the purdah "It's a lie, It's a lie!". How much attention did Jalal give her? Zilch!!!!!
So why then does this BEK consistently expose herself to an ignore from Jalal? It's irritating, but its also very funny! Above all else, its totally shameless!
I thought two other things yesterday were interesting:
1. This Nadira seems to have a very sharp mind. See how she told Kadir's grandma "Take him to the Diwan e Aam and ask the Shahenshsh for insaaf!". What a shrewd and precocious girl she is!
2. See how Nadira studiedly ignored her mother's eye signals at the Diwan-e-Aam to not betray Salim's name, and how Nadira dropped eye contact with her Mum because she wanted desperately to spill Sallim's name?
Aside from these few points, nothing else about the episode excited me. In fact from start to finish it was just about one single theme ... how Salim felt desperate to be good at archery and prove himself to Murad and Haider, and then how he hit the boy Kadir instead of the mango, and how smart this Nadira was in handling the emergency, and then how smart again this Nadira was to give the grandma good advice, and finally how angry Jalal looks and gets with any talk of Salim's shortcomings.
Salim is already impressing me as a kid with a very weak and vulnerable temperament. If Jalal adds to his low self-esteem by getting so very angry with him for everything, Salim will get driven towards Ruq by Jalal himself. All that Ruq has to do is to help Salim cope with his fear of his Dada with a little opium to forget his troubles!
