Madhu hotfooted inside the Mansion looking all around- pin drop silence was there in the living hall. "Oh God! Maa had told to return soon but..." Something striked her. "Sara... Where... where is she?" She saw her servant Anita walking past her. Madhu promptly called her out in anxiety, "Anita! Where is Sara?" "She is in your room, Madam! Radha Madam told to inform you about it." As soon as she heard it, Madhu ran upstairs hysterically.

She stomped inside the room but stopped midway on hearing her giggling sweet voice. Madhu keenly though slowly walked in further and there she saw him- RK sitting on the bed and changing clothes of lying Sara, who was more than busy in playing with her Papa's hair and chuckling. "How is the frock, baby? Papa has a good taste na...!" RK tickled her nose with his and she giggled more. Sara happily grabbed his ear and laughed softly. Madhu slowly walked near him in apprehension of his anger. "RK!" She spoke bleakly. The moment her voice struck his ear drums, his fragile smile automatically flew away and anguish took its place. He didn't damn to even look at her. "I am really sorry RK!" She apologized. "I... I got too late to return back... I am so sorry! Please pardon me, RK!! Please!" Sara promptly leaped up happily seeing her Mumma after so long! Seeing her baby in delight, though Madhu returned her a contented smile but her mind was stuck at RK who wasn't even bothering to look at her. Finally, he turned to her- his innerself was struggling a lot to hide the infliction of his broken heart as much as he could. His stern, indifferent gaze was pinching her more. Suddenly, she saw something. "RK! Your... Your palm!! It's wounded! How... How it happened?" She was about to touch his dressed up wound when RK got up abruptly and walked out in the balcony. Madhu's heart sank again for a moment- his inert silence was tensing up the air. "Sir!" Anita entered in middle. "Sir, I have cleaned up the study." Madhu turned to her perplexed, "Study? But what was the need to do that? I have already cleaned it up yesterday." "Wo Ma'am, there were broken glass pieces spread all over the floor so..." Madhu looked at her stunned. "But how??" "I don't know Ma'am but the vase was broken there and Sir told me to clean it." Madhu quickly turned to RK who was standing in the balcony indifferent to their conversation, lost in his thoughts. That means he got that wound because of it. She composed herself, picked Sara in her arms and asked Anita, "You take Sara to the garden. I am coming there within minutes. And please, do take care of her!" Madhu lovingly kissed her chubby cheeks, "Baby, so sorry for leaving you for long. Now you play with Aunty for few more minutes... Mumma is coming!! OK!" Sara caressed her cheeks as if giving her consent. Anita took her and left from there. The moment she left, Madhu hastened to RK, "RK! I said I am sorry na... I really got late... I... Ok... it's 7 now. I will get ready within five minutes then we'll go for dinner. I won't ruin your plan, RK!" She was trying to appease him but didn't get any reaction in return- he was standing backfacing her. After a brief silence, finally he spoke though desolated, "Where were you Madhu?" For a moment, her heart skipped in fear. A sudden dilemma circled her. "Wo... I... I had went for shopping." She lied as he had expected but today this lie didn't hurt him- after all he had met with much bigger realities today that already broke him completely from inside. "And you didn't buy anything, Biwi. A shopping without buying. Strange!" He spoke still in the same stance- back facing her. "Actually I... Yes... I had gone for window shopping." A lie again. "Window shopping?!" Finally RK faced her. "That too alone? Why Biwi?" She could feel the hidden sarcasm in his voice. Since the day they were espoused, RK had never questioned her this much. "I wasn't alone RK! My friend was there..." While Madhu was stealing her eyes from him, RK already knew the reason. "RK! Why are you inspecting so much today?" RK gazed at her briefly with a forlornness in his eyes and immediately turned back. "Isn't it strange Biwi? Nowadays... People have started visiting B.A.R.I.S.T.A. Coffee Shop for their WINDOW SHOPPING!" Madhu was completely taken aback with his words. It seemed finally those hidden layers were going to get unfold today... "What... What do you mean, RK?" She stuttered while her throat was drying in fear. "Since when did you start shopping in a cafe... B...I...W...I...?" Madhu started to shiver in threat- her hunch was turning real now. Though her lies were caught red handed, still she tried to vindicate one last time. "I... I had... I had gone for a coffee... RK!" "And your friend accompanied you... ROHAN... AHUJA!!! Right?" Finally the curtain was up!! Madhu's feet involuntarily stepped back in shock; breath stuck in her throat- all she could do was to stare at him appalled!! The moment she had dread to face ever was in front her and she was helpless! All her lies finally buried under this dreadful truth's weight. RK turned back to her- at last to face her!! She could easily see the scorn and resentment in his anguished eyes. "So that's why you were not feeling well since so many days!" He spoke in disdain. His voice was emerging out his hidden pain. "That's why you felt scared all the time! That's why you were fearing to pick up unknown calls; that's why were avoiding to meet him... in front of me!!" Madhu's eyes brimmed with tears- after all she had it coming!! She lowered her eyes as his ailing gaze was hurting her more- she deserved to face his hatred today!! Those brimmed tears finally found their way out. "So that's why you were lying to me... every moment!! You kept on lying to me and I... I actually... got befooled, Madhu!! Hadn't I come to that cafe, I won't have got to know how big a fool I am, Madhu!!" His face covered with a painful, sarcastic smile- for himself!! His words at last broke her down and she ran to hug him. A hug- that was once enough to sooth him, was now hurting his already broken heart!! His incomplete love today felt weak to return back to that embrace- he just stood still!! "I am sorry RK!! I am really sorry!" cried Madhu. "I had no intension to hurt you, RK! In fact, I was trying to save you from this pain!! It was my fault that I hid the truth from you but the day I saw Rohan, I got scared!! I was scared for if this truth came out before you after months, you'll feel cheated! I didn't want to hurt you that's why I hid everything RK! Please forgive me RK!!" It must be called as an irony today- the tears which used to worry him promptly, were now having zilch effect on this RK!! His eyes moistened in hurt. "You loved him a lot... Right?" She broke the hug and replied, "We were in love since our college time- had promised to get married!!" She looked up at him teary eyed. "But when Didu left and you came into my life... I left my past far behind, RK!! I left it completely! I had adopted my new life with you!! Trust me!" "... but in compulsion!! You betrayed him so that you can keep my family happy... And today, you cheated me too..." "I haven't cheated you RK!! Please don't say like this!" She immediately held him by shoulders and cried. "What is it if not betrayal, Madhu??!" His pain was now visibly reflecting in his eyes and voice. "You lied for everything!! In that cafe... you and that Rohan were mocking at our relation!! You were mocking at Trishna... that dead soul!! You were jeering at my deceased wife, Madhubala!!" "NO RK!!" She weeped in pain. "I didn't mock at anything- neither Didu nor at our relation!! I can't do that RK!! Please believe me!!" She was trying hard to convince him. "One... One minute!" He uttered. "That means... Rohan had returned... to avenge on me. Right?" Madhu stared at him stunned. The issue was moving to the worse. "That means... all the business deals... those projects... everything is his plot... to revenge on me!! Right Madhu?" "No... No RK! There is nothing like that!" She cried. "Rohan has told me, he has no intension to hurt you. This matter won't be involved in your business!! He has promised me RK!! Please... Please trust me for once, RK!!" She gently cupped his face, "I know, I have ruined everything! It's my fault that I hid the truth from you RK. I know I have hurt you a lot but please... please forgive me for once! You have always pardoned me for every smallest to biggest mistake of mine!! Forgive me this time too... I promise I won't do any mistake again! Please RK!" Her crying and pleading was hurting him badly from inside!! Those wounds of broken trust were bleeding in the form of unshed tears in his eyes. Following a brief paining gaze, he spoke bleakly, "Is there anything left, Madhu!?" He slowly removed her palm that shocked her again. "A marriage bases only on trust and understanding. I know we don't share a normal relation. I thought, in these six months of our marriage, we might have moved ahead in our relation!! I thought, we might have gained enough trust for each other but NO... I was wrong Madhu!! I was completely wrong!! We are still the same... at the same stage from where we had started...!!" While he spoke, Madhu kept on pleading through her teary eyes. "Today only I saw that trust smashing into zillion of pieces! Now... nothing is left to speak or hear to!! Everything ruined Madhu!! Everything!" A silent tear finally slid through his eye. The hopelessness in his concluding words thrashed her from within- she felt her everything running away speedily. She held his arms tightly in fear, "NO... No RK! You can't say like this!! Give me one chance RK! Please listen to me for once... Rk.. I.." Before she could complete, RK walked past her in desolation.

He felt his arm gripped tightly but he didn't bother to turn back. Madhu slowly moved ahead of him, held her ears in guilt and sobbed, "I know I am bad. But I am not too bad, RK!!" Tears shed profusely. "You have always backed me in my difficulties. If you leave me like this, where will I go RK?? What will I do?? Please..." and she weeped heart broken. Her defeated sobbings were pinching him deeply. He slowly pulled down her hands and hugged her. The moment she felt his embrace around, Madhu cried her heart out hugging him as tightly as she could. "I have no one to call as mine other than you and this family, RK!! Please don't desert me like this... Please..." He could feel the lump of grief in his throat. He just bosomed her more tightly in reply and unsounded tears fell down.

After a fateful day, though with difficulty, sleep at last overcame their sorrows. It was midnight when suddenly, Madhu's phone buzzed. She woke up in a jerk with the first ring only. She grabbed her cell and got stunned with the caller's name. It was Rohan. She abruptly looked at sleeping RK. Madhu immediately muted the phone and went out in balcony. "Have you gone mad or what, Rohan?? Is this the time to call?? And... why have you called me even??" She snapped furiously. "Relax Madhu! I felt to talk to you so..." "Then keep your feeling with you now and hang up the phone!!" "I have called to know your decision, Madhu." Spoke Rohan, indifferent to her anger. Madhu got more furious with his same chant. "You know my decision very well, Rohan!" she gritted. "Why are you fueling up my problems?? I have already told you that this can never happen. I won't come!!" "You need to change your decision, Madhu." Simpered Rohan. "That I won't... ever!! Bye!!" And she quickly disconnected in annoyance. "You HAVE to come to me... Madhubala... You have to!!" muttered Rohan to himself evilly!!

"What can't happen, Madhu?" She promptly turned back with his voice, shocked. "RK!" "Whose phone was it?" "Ammm... Wo... Wo... Chachi! Chachi called me!" She stammered. "At this time!" "Yeah... Actually, she want to meet me tomorrow but Maa had told me some work so... it can't happen na..." She lied again. "Can we sleep now RK...? It's late!" With it, she walked promptly to the bed without looking at him. RK has already figured out her lie but didn't say anything to her and walked to the bed. Both were sitting at the two bed ends- lost in their thoughts. Again a lie Madhu!! Why? Why you yourself break your promises... everytime!!? He turned to look at her sadly. I am sorry RK! But I can't tell the truth. I don't want to hurt you anymore... I will end this very soon... Then everything will be fine! She too looked back at him but he was already asleep.
