I am a modern girl who is focused in her life: Amrita Prakash

Amrita Prakash made her presence felt in films like Tum Bin and Vivah as a child artiste. Finally, she has broken out of the cocoon and landed herself the lead role in television serial Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai… Khel Lakeeron Ka on Zee TV. She speaks about her new journey ahead on screen.

Q: So finally you are playing the lead?
A: Yes, finally I have managed to break the jinx around me of a child actress. I have bagged a lead role in a television serial and I am happy with it.

Q: What character are you playing?
A: I play a strong-headed and stubborn girl who is focused in her life. She does not believe in the institution of marriage at all. Instead, she would prefer a live-in relationship. It is quite in contrast to my onscreen name 'Sanskriti'.

Q: How much do you identify with your character?
A: I'm also a modern girl who is focused in her life, so I can relate myself to the character and so will many other girls.

Q: Are you continuing your studies?
A: Yes, I'm finishing my graduation from Mithibai College, here in Mumbai. I'm a final-year B.Com student.

Q: How do you balance work with studies?
A: At present, I am busy shooting for almost 17 hours a day for this show. So I'm not getting much time for studies. Unfortunately, the college is also not giving any concession to make things easier. But I keep in touch with academics whenever I get time off from work.

Q: Are you planning to study further?
A: Yes, why not? It has never occurred to me to stop my studies as it has always been my priority, along with work. I'm planning to do an MBA after graduation.

Q: You must be the youngest on the show's sets.
A: Yes, and thus pampered by all. I enjoy all the attention that I get. It's fun to be with my colleagues.

Q: How supportive are your parents?
A: I was introduced to this field at the age of four by my parents. So whatever I'm today is because of them. I still have their full support.

Q: Being a child artiste did you ever feel you missed out on a normal childhood?
A: Yes, at times it was annoying being followed by people all the time. I felt I needed privacy, but I will not complain since with every good there is a necessary evil. Mili Swarnakar

thanks for the article....its so good to read about the energy levels in the young generation...so many girls are coming into this acting profession at such a young age...first prachi desai in KS as Bani, then Hansika Motwani in Bollywood and now Amrita playing lead role...i think she's really pretty....

I remember her coming in Koi Apna Sa, as Kavita, u know when Shruti was changed and became Malika Singhania and she tried finding her daughter Komal, it turned out Kavita was Komal, and Amrita played Komal/Kavita...

Glad to see her back on Zee's show..

I reember that Yuvi🤔.........but for some reason; probably because I'm so young to seeing her as a child artist; she looks awfully young in HGKKH!
