What do you guys feel about the role of media ?Do you feel too much attention is given to the page 3 kind of news ? Do you feel that some channels are way too much biased to certain wings of political parties and always promote news about those parties and show others in bad light? Do you feel that some part of media is pseudo secular ? Do you feel that media filters out news and there is hardly any transparency? Do you think the Indian media is doing a very responsible job and we will never face an emergency in the future ?

To answer your question...

Media's job is to:

1. Print rumors
2. Oversensationize News = Ekta Mai's Drama

I can talk of Aaj TAk, cause I got exposure to the channel while in India, and they were reporting about unrest in Punjab, and there was violence only in a city, and the news people are going 'sulag raha hai punjab' and how all that is happening relates back to past happenning, and speculate nonsense...so, even if nobody makes a connection with the past or thinks it to be the worst thing, they can make you believe that you are rotting in hell. 😃 😆 And they beat news to death 😡

But I dont' think it is only the India Media. Media all over the world seem to have become corrupted! 🤢

Media is like anything an industry, if they find viewers are interested in masala than matter, they will concentrate on masala

It is driven by TRP's, if not many people watch news, they have not going to be running news on Charity 😉

Yes media is very much biased, It always has been extra secular, look at the # of sting operations

Even in print media, best thing open up the editorial and you will know whose side it is tilted.

Times of India tilts left
Indian Express tilts right

Defination of secular is you treat everyone same, irrespective of what religion they belong to

Couple of months ago there was a sting operation regarding some self proffesed sadhu's, everyone applauded(including me). They will in a million years never dare to do a vice versa, what perception does it leave on the population? The WAKF board has a hugh land impropriation at hand, media would not dare raise a voice against it worried about being branded anti minority

This happens everywhere in India, In America everywhere, everyone has a tilt. If you watch CNN you will notice it is left tilting, If you watch Fox you will know it is right tilting

You have NPR and CSPAN which you can say are as close to impartial, just reporting organizations

Wellsaid Vineet Bhayya👏

Indian Media is biased like any other country's media!!!

The degradition of quality of news in some channels and papers is really sick🤢,AAJ TAK is one of such channels! The hype they create for all the stupid news is really sick🤢,the hype they created to ASH ABHI marriage, the Bipasha ROnaldo kiss and all those stuff is really sick, they show all these stuff speically during 9 O clock news(which is prime time)!! For that matter times of India paper is also sick!!!! In some papers,we see news in the midst of ads and in the front page corner everyday they put some hot babe photo, they make some or the other bahana to post that picture(say Jennifer lopez in alpha beta 's baby naming ceremony in maldives.....)!!!!

Yesterday there was a good debate in NDTV about the topic:IS GOOD JOURNALISM a BAD BUSINESS !!!

Cheers,

Mythili
