Chapter One: Mine
Letting go doesn't mean giving up... it means moving on. It is one of the hardest things a person can do. Starting at birth, we grasp on to anything we can get our hands on, and hold on as if we will cease to exist when we let go. We feel that letting go is giving up, quitting, and that as we all know is cowardly. But as we grow older we are forced to change our way of thinking. We are forced to realize that letting go means accepting things that cannot be. It means maturing and moving on, no matter how hard you have to fight yourself to do so." Unknown
"Life gives us choices and decisions to undertake:one wrong decision or one wrong choice could affect your life forever"
A few years ago back in highschool Ishita would have denied any legibility to the given quote, anyone she was acquainted with would agree with second her back then but now, years later facing the after effects of the decision she took years ago and how that one decision had altered her life Ishita knew better.
Two weeks ago she was the Ishita Iyer - heiress of various hotels, discs and various groups of companies. Head of the high school prom committee, senior president, head cheerleader and obviously the topper receiving scholarship's and acceptance papers to various colleges all over the world.
Ishota had all that a girl would ever dream of posessing and she lived every girls dream. She loved the life of a princess with two loving parents, a bunch of credit cards, a sweet loving sister, friends, mansions, designers at her feet and a player for a fiance. What more could a girl ever want but now she was no one. Hidden by the mask of simplicity, she was just another girl in the room who had assumed the name of Ishu.
"Come on Ishu! You've got to be kidding me.! You seriously wanna miss this, see we are free. No one know us properly, no reporters following us, no one telling us what to do and yeah, no one actually cares about what we do. We're free and on our own! Get up and let's dance. Come on! We got a new life here and everyone here loves you. "
"Everyone Raman! What about you?"
"I love you too. Alot." He had said dragging her up to the dance floor. They had danced the night away. For once just because they felt like it and not because there were eyes watching every move they made. At that moment nothing mattered to them but each other. They were together and this was going to last forever and that was all that mattered.
"I love you," he had whispered into her ears as she buried her face in his chest as the announcer announced
"Well this is the moment of the night! The one that everyone's being waiting for. Allow me to announce the couple of the night. This is special. And on this valentine's night our couple of the night is. Yeah, you guessed it right. Ishu and Raman. Come on guys let's hear some noise for 'em!"
While the crowd burst into shouts and screams Raman had taken her hand into his as they walked up to the stage together.
"I love you!" he had whispered into her ear, yet again.

"Snap out of it Ishita! It was all a dream. A beauticful one. Too bad you woke up early!" I Ishita scolded herself as the limo came to a halt.
Plastering a bright seductive smile on her face, totally camera worthy she stepped out of the limo as Andrew, her driver, opened the door for her.
The blinding flash of cameras hit her eyes, making it difficult for her to see. She stuttered down the red carpet whilst striking poses for the paparazzi as she signed autographs simultaneously.
She was dressed in an elegant peach silk gown that hung over one shoulder and draped elegantly accross her chest before flowing down her legs perfectly outlining her figure. Her hair, losely pinned on one side and ringlets of large curls framed her face. A simple heart locket neclace and celtic knotted braclet adorned her neck and wrist. Both meaning so much to her as they were both gifts from the two people she loved the most. The first, her daughter and the second, her first love.
Her first and only love.
Blinking rapidly against the tears that threathened to flow even after 6 long years Ishita continued her walk down the red carpet.
The walk down the redcarpet was as expected the media, reporters and fans. This was the kind of life she was born into. Not that she loathed this life, instead sheactually loved it. She loved the love and appreciation that was being showered upon her - it momentarily made her forget the misery she faced and gave her facade a sense of reality. Back home she had a family that loved and supported her at every point of her life. She has Ruhi, the greatest gift she ever got but life to her wasn't perfect. It was far from being perfect. She lacked him. She lacked his love, companionship, presence and opinion. She lacked the soft kisses placed by him and their secret escapades. She lacked the present as she stood haunted by her past.
"Ishita! How do you balance your personal life and career?"
"Ishita! Is there any guy in your life?"
"Ishita! Is it true that you are dating your current co-star?"
Ignoring those questions and a bunch of others she continued her walk down the red carpet smiling and posing for the cameras.
The media asked questions but they never cared about the answers, whatever the answer was they would change it to what they wanted and then lo another rumor.
On second thoughts Ishita mentally answered their questions, just for herself. Was she actually looking forward to a relationship? Did she need a guy in her life? No, she was fine by herself, just Ru and her. They didnot need anyone else in their lives right now, no one just one just...
"Hey, honey!" said someone as he placed a light peck on her cheek.
"Hey Zac," she said acknowleging his presence and taking her place besides him. He was her plus one for tonight, for this event and no they weren't actually dating. They weren't married either, they were more than that, so much more than that.
Zachary Thorpe was a model turned buisnessman and one could could say that he was quite popular with the ladies - having fans all over the world but behing that supermodel exterior he was a total down to earth guy. Zachary was the guy who stood by Ishita in the most difficult phase in her life.
The ceremony began a whole later and the audiences and fellow industry members were seen congratulating the winners. Personally, all the teams worked pretty hard this year and gave the audiences some pretty collectable collections of films and songs to tap their feet to. Awards were being given out to all those who deserved them.
"And finally we have Ishita, who is nominated for her portrayal of "Princess Zulo" in her recent film "Accross The Dark Ages". A film considered to be one of the best films this year. And to call upon this award may I have the pleasure to invite on stage Mr. Raman Kumar Bhalla. "
"Raman Kumar Bhalla," was the only name that could hear at that moment as it echoed through my ears - over and over again. Nothing else mattered at that moment.Everything had faded away. She felt her self being mentally teleported to that night years ago. It was as if both of them were the only people at that moment. Stuck there. She saw him look at her. He had spotted her and his gaze was now fix on her. That smirk still adorning his face, she looked back at him and then turned away. He still looked the same, nothing has changed. It was a shock that he was here.
Why wouldnt he be, she asked herself. It wasn't that she was the only one present here.It wasn't that she was the only girl in his life.Maybe he was accompanied by someone here. Another one of his girlfriends. Maybe someone who she didnot know of, what did she know about him anyways? Nothing! He was a mystery then as he was now. The only difference was that she didn't care this time around.
"Ahh!! This year the award for the Best Actress - Drama goes to! Well, she's my favourite! Ishita!" Raman smiled as he announced the winner.
Ishita got up and walked towards the stage to recieve her award. She smiled. Once again she felt Ramans's gaze upon her, it followed her as she walked towards the stage like her second shadow. Cameras' flashed the moment she reached there. The host wished her on her winning this award, she smiled as she was engulfed in a hug. Moving forwards towards Raman, the same guy who once her Raman, she forced a smile as she walked towards him. He wished her, handed over her award and gave her a hug.
"Nice meeting you again, Princess." he whispered in her ear. She shuddered at the sensation on his hot breath on her neck. It was as if she was the 18 year old teen who was madly crushing on her best friends elder brother - all over again. She quickly collected herself, she would not fall prey to his charms again. Never again. That was some other girl- a niave one. This one knew the truth and she couldn't risk breaking her heart again. No!
"Nice meeting you too, Raman." she replied though the name Raman seemed a bit forced.
She forced a smile as they stood together on that aisle posing for the cameras who were oh-so-eager to click their pictures. They stood there for a minute or two smiling at the cameras.
A while later Ishita was back at her seat sitting there and acting as if nothing had happened on stage. As if she had not just met one of the most important figures in her life,aa if she had just not met the guy who she vowed never to forgive. She sat there lost in her thoughts until Zac noticed something.
"Who was he?" He asked.
"No one important!"
