It is debatable.

Ra.one,BB and HNY has massive promotion. It under-performed.

D3 didn't have much promotions,yet it broke records.

[these movies got bad critical reception]

There are many movies which are good and go unnoticed. If one doesn't promote it how will audience come to see it!

I second khan here. Lootera was promoted but it underperformed. Smaller films like lunchbox do well. One cannot PREDICT the audience n their taste. Stop being bitter if you don't have resources to promote your films. Everyone gets their due. Keep going.
