Karan Kundra in a candid chat about BCL
BCL (box cricket League) is going to be the flavor of the season. Kolkata Babu Moshayes' is the young team owned by Nivedita Basu (Under her production house The House of Originals'). Nivedita's team has a good ensemble of actors. Tushaar Kapoor, Shweta Tiwari and Divyanak Tripathi are the brand ambassadors. Actors Karan Kundra and Sudeepa Singh are the promoters. Karan Kundra shared his thoughts on BCL during a candid chat with Just ShowBiz.
Excerpts:
What prompted you to be a part of the cricket team Kolkata Baabu Moshayes'?
Actually its Nivedita. She is been a part of my career since the start of it. So when she asked me I had no other team to be a part of! It's like a family to me and fun time.
Did you ever play cricket in your childhood?
Off course! Who hasn't especially in India!(laughs). I was in a hostel and had to compulsorily play cricket every day.
Do you follow cricket matches?
I am not a TV person but if someone beside me is watching I'll have a look. The last series that I followed was world cup.
Who is your favorite cricketer and why?
Sachin for obvious reasons, Virat for his attitude on the pitch and Yuvraj for the way he is.
What do you like the most - batting or bowling?
I just love batting!
Is playing cricket a stress buster?
Absolutely, Its fun. When people shoot for 12 hrs and still come to practice at 2am, there's got to be something. Cricket is a recreation and everybody gets into it without being bothered about tiredness or fatigueless.
Which games do you like other than cricket?
Squash and swimming.
Which cricketer you would like to meet and play cricket with?
I would love to meet no other than Sachin Tendulkar. However, I wouldn't dare playing cricket with him.
How do you manage both shooting and practice?
Our practices have not really started yet. Practice is so much fun and recreation so we don't feel we our missing out on our sleep. Its something that becomes your habit and we all look forward to it.
What you have to say about your team owner Nivedita Basu?
She's one dynamic lady who never gives up. I have followed her since the time I have come to Bombay and she is like family to me. She's got the right spirit and in last match. I saw her how graceful she was and its good to be with such people. We get to learn a lot.
What is your view on Ekta Kapoor launching BCL as a TV reality show?
I am very used to her being my boss from the very start. It feels like home again and I think its goinh to be big only because of Ekta.
Who is your favourite team member?
Everyone! Meghna, karan mehra and many. I really can't pick and choose one.
What was your reaction when you came to know BCL this year would be televised?
We knew BCL is going be televised. I was really happy that Ekta took it over because she's the mother of all projects and knows how to make things work.
