This post is a direct response to some comments directed towards me on Radhika's thread. Let me say at the outset that this is not a declaration of war but an attempt to avoid cluttering her beautiful post with a discussion on Rajat/ paridhi, or JA which is no way connected to the point she was trying to make. It was my clumsy attempt at cut and paste that brought this on and I apologize for this. My comments on Rajat and Paridhi were in response to a post from Khushi's thread and I should have deleted it before posting my views on Jalal - Salima relationship.
As a silent reader on IF I have been fascinated with the wide range of views expressed on this forum. From Ela's forthrightness, to Radhika's sensitivity, to Shyamala's satire and wit, to Preet guru's sweet anxious lamentations, to Abhay's historical info, to khushi/adiana's obvious preference for Jalal to Mandy G and her droolings for Rajat and his hamam... I have disagreed with many but loved them all!!
HOWEVER I do feel like a must respond to some rather strong wording accusing me of trying to "lump" my opinion on others as Maddy O, so eloquently put it.
1. Paridhi Sharma vs Rajat.
This point is the easiest to address. This is simply your opinion vs mine. Shall we just agree to disagree on this one? For me Paridhi's acting skills have slowly evolved and her performances have been sketchy. I will concede that their on screen chemistry has been excellent in parts, however in moments of intimacy she has seemed stiff to me and has not been able to match the intensity of Jalal. Just when they were getting comfortable with each other the CVs decide to kill the love story UFFF!!!. She was of course brilliant in the death of the twins especially the Hassan death episode. Rajat is just simply better. She is a beautiful girl who has been recently given awful clothes and make-up and she frankly she does not look like a queen. Rajat on the other hand has acted brilliantly throughout (except the death of Maha manga) and has also looked good. So I am going to stand by my statement that he is the only reason to watch the show at the present moment. Sorry if this does not please you but that's the way I feel. Now Maddy can you please explain to me how you expressing your support for Paridhi is acceptable but my expressing an opinion on the matter is " forcing my opinion down others throats?" when did I ever ask you or anyone else to see things my way. This is a public forum and I was just expressing my point of view.
2. The Character of Jodha and Jalal.
This one is a bit tricky and again my comments were pasted out of context and appear incomplete. So let me explain my POV again. Jodha AND Jalal's character has been shown to be inconsistent and illogical. ESPECIALLY Jalal's. His character has been butchered badly and simply put his behaviour broke my heart ðŸ˜. and the only reason I did not address it is because I was responding to a comment made on Jodha on another post.
Now coming to Jodha: Yes I found her to be extremely annoying in many episodes. Her lectures and moral posturing were extremely irritating and unrealistic especially during the Todarmal track, khabiar Zara and the most recently during the twin sharing track. Also,I wanted to shake the daylights out of her when she kept blaming herself for Hussein's death and then to make matters worse handed Salim to Ruqs on a platter. she has been transformed from a fiery Rajput princess to an annoying saint who apposed jalal at every attempt to a complete doormat who accepts all the crap Jalal and Ruqs dish out to her. How on earth is this an acceptable and interesting portrayal of the real Jodha/MUZ that so many of us have read about?
3. On the Jodha - Akbar Love story: this is where I am very confused. Not sure how I offended you guys with this one. Maddy I did talk about abandonment... Jalal's love/ raising her on a pedestal and then abandoning her repeatedly!!!! What did you not like about my statement???
Guys I am going say this as clearly as I can: I was deeply commited to the Jodha/ MUz and Akbar love story. I wanted pure epic love and I feel cheated. We thought we were seeing their love reach a peak with the death of hassan and all we saw was the ultimate betrayal by Jalal ( if the Zee man has to be believed) . A true lover stands by his love in her time of need regardless of the century we are talking about... Jalal quite simply failed this test after Hussein's death. Jodha on the other hand passed this test. She was his rock when he needed her the most from the time of Atgah's/ adham death to her unconditional support for him at Sikhri ( very beautiful episode)
4. Salima/ Akbar Angle: you perhaps have not read my post on Khushis thread which explicity calls out those who are celebrating this turn of events with Jalal and Salima. Let me quote what I said:
" For any man in the 16th or 21st century (who had been shown throughout the show to basically be a one woman man) to first turn away from his wife when she is the most vulnerable AND then seek refuge in another woman's arms is immoral and repulsive. While she could not seek solace from anyone in her misery he availed himself of all the privileges he had from his other wives. Also apparently he continued this relationship after Salim's birth despite telling Jodha he can't think of anyone else but her. AND this is after she stood by him and stayed with him at Sikhri offering unconditional support despite his banishing her away from his life for 3 yrs??? so now which aspect of Jalal's character are some in this forum rejoicing about? Its one thing to enjoy a show solely because you love the lead but to rejoice and cheer this potential angle of Salima- Akbar solely to bring down Jodha is quite another.
This is a story about the pure love between Jo and Akbar . Surely the CVs can find a classier way to introduce Murad without rendering the tough, spiritual journey of Jodha and Akbar completely meaningless"
...that Maddy et al summarizes my views on the subject. Have a wonderful weekend folks!!!
