After watching the full episode, here is what I feel. Please go ahead and comment about what you think.. You may agree or disagree but lets keep it civil.. thanks! :)
1. The challengers - As soon as task of choosing next captain was announced, I noticed that when the whole house was huddled in the glass room, discussing what to do, Gautam didn't take a minute to decide and take action. He went straight and presented himself as the first challenger. What does it say about him? He is decisive, bold and has a mind of his own. Upen on the other hand, was nominated by whole house..he looked wary if not nervous..
2. The supporters - Again, when Puneet was trying to backout, Praneet was giving excuses, everybody was again trying to come to ''aam sehmati'' or ''common consensus'' Gulati put his foot down. He acted quick and chose the best Puneet and Pritam.
3. Politics- No one wanted Gautam to be the captain.. reasons given were as LAME and predictable as you could imagine .. Sample few top ones :
Praneet Bhatt- Upen is balanced and straight.
Really now Praneet? Being huddled in a corner, doing nothing, playing safe is called being balanced and straight?!
The reason I think is that Praneet knows Gautam is a strong contender. Captaincy would have given him an opportunity to interact with the whole house, and it could have worked in his favor. Gautam is impulsive yes but he is smart.. He is already going strong in the show..giving him the captaincy would mean more power..more authority.. nope! not acceptable to Mr Bhatt who loves to lecture and shout at people these days.. đ
The task - Can you really blame Gautam for getting sympathy votes? Anyone with an unbiased view, will say that it was completely unfair. While Gautam struggled, kicked and put in 200% physical strength against Arya and Ali, all Upen had to do was sit on the floor with his arms and legs wrapped around the poleđ
I am sure everyone realized that it was foul play and one will feel let down. Wouldn't you if you were in Gautam's place?
Puneet, trained in marshal arts was showing them how to un-grip the fingers from the pole. What happened during the task? Pritam, simply followed Puneet's footsteps realizing that housemates have already picked their captain so there was no point in sweating it out.. so he stood there too doing nothing..
Captain in my opinion, has to be balanced and calm yes ! but he also has to be decisive,affirmative, quick to take actions, capable of thinking independently, innovative with ideas, not prone to getting manipulated and influenced and he should have leadership qualities. I see Gautam getting calm and balanced if he sincerely wants to and has to, I don't see any of the other qualities in Upen even if he wants to or has to.. Example was the first meeting they had right after the task.. Upen's voice got completely drowned in the din.. đ
