"No sir..." Raji replied meekly..that stunned all the three..

"No means?"Karthik asked with a frown

"I need to do some final work in the presentation.."

"So.."he asked plainly...

"I.. I .. need some time.." She stammered...

"So u mean to say,ur presentation is not yet ready...?" he asked with a piercing gaze..

She nodded for a yes

"Shall I take it as ur inefficiency ..?I have given two of u the same work and same time.. here one has done fabulously..but the other one couldn't even finish it...it's just Ridiculous.."

He distained her through his sarcastic words...

She bent her head down gulping the lump in her throat..

He stared at her dejected face for a second.. for a fleeting moment her hurtful look pricks him hard somewhere inside...but soon he regained his composure... took a deep breath to control his raising temper..

He stood up immediately and took a few steps towards the door..and stopped for a while..

"Raji ..konjam veliya vaa.." he almost ordered her..and went out with long strides ..

She followed him with reluctant steps..

He confronted her outside the conference room..

"What the hell is wrong with u..?" he asked in frustrated voice..

"Sir,I told no..,I have yet to finish the presentation.." she repeated the same dialogue..

"indha kadhai yellaam... yevanaavadhu kaadhula kadukkan pottutu ooru naataan irupaan avan kita sollu nambuvaan...adhukku naan aal kidaiyaadhu..yenna problem nu sollu?"he asked with his eyes hooked to her..

She gulped hard..how could she reveal the truth that she needed some more time as she wanted to do the desire changes so as to exceed Lakshmi's presentation..She could have even disclosed all these to him ,if he was her old "Karthik sir"..but not to this enigmatic man... the person standing before her was someone she never knew before...he turned out to be a complete stranger to her..she looked at him with grief filled eyes...

"Raji stop ur melodrama..i don't have all day to wait for u reply..do u think I don't have any work other than to pacify u..?"he asked heatedly...

"No sir...I am sorry..."she replied meekly..

"Raji...have faith in u..neeye unnai nambalainaa..then who else will trust u..? come on..do present what u have prepared..."he said in soft voice..expecting some positive reply from her..

But Still she maintained silence..looks like adamant on her point..

He got fed up with her stubbornness.. "oh man... she is getting on my nerves...definitely this girl has guts.."

He was very much exasperated with her tantrums..

"See..i know..u r ready with ur presentation..do the presentation now..or else get lost from my sight forever.." he uttered in between his gritted teeth and treaded fast into the conference room..without waiting for her to respond..

She followed him with a sulky face..as she had no option other than to present the same product..

Raji stood in front of the projector screen..closing her eyes and recalling her savior's words once he said to her...

"Raji..Don't run away from ur problems..just face it..u will overcome it easily..."

She felt her confidence level was raising..and an unknown strength seeped in her veins...that reflects right in her attitude ..by her erect posture..

She did her presentation to her level best..and after finishing it she waited for others to shoot out questions on her..But was flabbergasted by the eerie silence from the others..

The first one to break the silence was Vishnu..he clapped loudly ,later Lakshmi also joined with him..

She shifted her gaze to Karthik where he stayed quiet with subtle expression...

She pouted her lips in disappointment..but she would have been on cloud nine if she could have read his mind then..

Karthik was dumbstruck by her performance. he must accept atleast to himself that ,Raji definitely has some incisive knowledge in her job...she would reach skies if well guided...he even felt little pride at the corner of his heart..for which he still couldn't fathom the reasonable reason behind it...

But the thing which surprised him was his contentment...Why her achievement gives him satisfaction..

Why he was desperate on her to present well..why he was giving so much importance to her..that was more unlike him..why should he persuade her to do the presentation where he can make use of the situation in his favour , to kick her out of the office which he believed was his desperate wish till now..but his act proved something else..he acted like he doesn't want her to lose..he wanted her to exile..he can't lie to himself..yes its true he wished Raji's success..

But why?

Sometimes he felt he knew her for ages..those big dark orbs filled with so much of emotions always trying to convey something to him ..why it bothered him if she did the presentation well or not..what irked him to talk to her personally and made her to do it on her own..

After her presentation he felt elated It was totally different from the satisfaction he had after Lakshmi's performance.. in Raji's case it was pride...as if he himself had achieved something.

"What connection this stranger girl had in my life? Why her grief hurts me so much..."

He wondered..

He had pile of questions lying unanswered.

He remained silent scrutinizing his very own contrary behavior..

"ooppsss. She is driving me insane.."he shook his head to come out of his trance ..later Vishnu's words captured his attention...

"Raji..u r fabulous...it was clear and perfect presentation..as of my knowledge,ur insight and the strategies u have suggested were only an expertise person could do..i am impressed..precisely speaking I was awed .shall I ask u something..do u have any plans of competing with me? If so tell me now itself.. rather I would change my team .."Vishnu praised her in his usual playful way..

"No Vishnu..Nothing like that.."Raji was embarrassed by his hail of praising..

But expecting Karthik to say something but in vain..he seemed not even budging ..

Karthik stood up and gazed at Raji..

"Raji..meet me in my cabin.."he said flatly and started to walk off..

"Now sir..?"Raji asked in doubt..

He stopped in his track ...

"No tomorrow.."he said sarcastically

"Oh ok..tomorrow at what time sir?"she asked innocently without realizing his sarcasm..

He rolled his eyes in exasperation..

"Come to my cabin right now..."he said in stern voice and walked off with his usual long strides..

She jolted with his stern voice..Lakshmi hugged her and congratulated her..

"Hey,kalakita Raji...nee ivlo periya genius aa irupennu naan nenaikave illai..."Lakshmi was surprised..

"Naanum dhaan.."she replied..with a smile..

"Raji..go fast and meet the boss ..or else the volcano will erupt at any minute..."Vishnu reminded her..

"Oh..yes,I have to hurry...bye ..see u later guys.."She sprinted away to his cabin..

Karthik's cabin..

"Take ur seat.."

"Have u brought ur notepad with u?" He asked formally..

"Yes sir.."she replied politely..

"Good ,note down the points I am dictating..it is about a new project..work on those points and give me a rough sketch of how to design the project... "

"Ok sir..."

As soon as the tip of her pen touched the notepad he started dictating in jet speed..she was unable to cope up with his pace..she was startled at first..but then a bulb flashed in her mind..she took a deep breath and stopped writing the notes..

After he finished his lecture..he asked..

"Have u noted down all the points..?"with a smirk..expecting a "no" from her..but was awed by her..

"Yes sir.."

"U know short hand?"he asked eying her discreetly.

"No sir...but I know how to use technology effectively...she showed her mobile..i have recorded ur voice in it..so I won't miss any points "she said with smug..

He was speechless.. "Man... she is not as dumb as she looks outside.." he thought in mind.

"Ok then prepare the report before u go to home.."

She nodded her head but stayed there reluctantly...

He asked her puzzled.. "What?any problem..or doubt ?"

"No sir..i just wanted to know what is ur opinon about my presentation..am I selected to work with u..?"she asked hesitantly

"If u were not did well..then u wouldn't be standing here at the first place..Lakshmi might have been here now..u outshined Lakshmi...now u r in the project working with me..clear?"

"Yes..sir..and thank u sir.."she chirped in joy...but at the corner of her heart she grumbled..

"Adhai konjam sirichitae sonnaa yenna vaam..?" she muttered .. twisting her lips..

As she took few steps ..his call stopped her...

"Raji.."

She turned towards him scrunching her brows..

"Good job.."he said with a genuine smile...

Her face lit up immediately and her heart jumped over the moon in happiness..she left his cabin with gleaming face...

She was out of the world..and twirled in air..after confirming no one was around.

Raji was working continuously without having any knowledge of time. she finished her work at 8 pm..when she went to show her reports ,she had found that Karthik was in client meeting..

She returned to her place..and had started waiting for his arrival..eventually she got bored and dosed off in sitting position...

Karthik finished his meeting with US clients ...on the way to his cabin he had found Raji was sleeping in her place..

He was shocked to see Raji was alone in the office at this late hours that too sleeping...

He went near her..and looked at her sleeping form..for the first time he looked at her properly ..

She looked more innocent and nave while sleeping..her dove shaped mischievous eyes were closed ..her chatter box mouth not closed properly even in her sleep it remained open slightly. Has brought the smile to him..he stared at her beautiful face for a while...

"She fits to the category of beauty with brain.." his mind screamed..

His heart melted seeing her cuddled herself on the chair like a kid...he felt like caressing her hair lovingly..he was startled by seeing his hand already raised as if giving action form to his thoughts..he fisted his hand in mid..and called out her name instead...

"Raji.." getting no reply from her he tapped on her shoulder..

As a result, Raji's sound sleep was disturbed ...she half opened her sleepy eyes with strain..

When her eyes met with Karthik's.. she snapped open her eyes and stood at once in a jerk.

"Sir.." she was stumbled and about to fall...but he caught hold of her shoulder in time and straightened her...and looked at her oddly.

"Innum veetuku pogaama inga yenna panra?i think this is not a place to sleep.for that we have a place called home.." he asked mockingly.

"Actually, I have been waiting for u, to show my report."

He hits his forehead mentally..Immersed in his other works ,He totally forgot about the assignment given to Raji..

"Oh..i am sorry,I was struck in the meeting..but u shouldn't have stayed for this late...u could have mailed it.."he said tauntingly.

Then only she noticed the time.. "omg it is half past 10.."

She covered her mouth with a panic stricken face..

He shook his head in frustration seeing her exaggerated reaction..

"u no need to panic..wait I will arrange a cab for u.."he said to calm her ..

But it seemed she had not even convinced a bit..she was immersed in her own thought..showing so many faces in a matter of few seconds..

"Drama queen.." he thought inwardly..

"Raji .."he called aloud to gain her attention. she looked up with a sudden jerk.

"R u ok?'he couldn't resist himself from asking..

"Certainly not.."she thought in mind but didn't said it out...

"Sir, can I stay in the office itself..?"She asked with pleading eyes.

"What's wrong..don't u heard ,i said I can arrange transport for u.."

"No use..i can't spend the whole night standing on the roads.."

"What do u mean? He scrunched his brows in confusion..

"My land lady won't open the door after 10..its her strict order..if her rules are not followed then she will kick me out of the house.."

"Is she that bad..nadu raathrila oru ponna velila niruthuvaangalaa? Adhellaam oru lady aa?"

"indha doubt yenakkum irukku sir.."she said casually...

Where he chuckled at her words.

"Ippo yenna panna pora?" He asked between his smile..

"Inga office laye ..."

He didn't let her to finish...

"No...that is not allowed here..unless otherwise u have a valid reason..." he said strictly..

"Yennodadhum valid reason dhaan sir."she said sulkily ..

"Sari yennoda vaa..naan andha lady kitta pesuren.."

"Iyoo ..vera vinaiye vendaam..yenna udane room ah gaali panna sollidum andha swarnakaa..

Mukkiyamaa pasanga yaarum paarka vara koodaadhungaradhu dhaan avangaloda first condition..."

"Rules avlo dhanaaa..illai innum yedhavadhu baakki irukaa?"he asked sarcastically..

She looked at him with puppy face.

He thought for a while.. "Unoda friends..relatives..yaaraavdhu?" he asked

She nodded for a "NO"

"Ok fine..yennoda veetla stay pannu..naalaikku kaalaila unnoda room ku polaam.."

Her eyes widened in shock.

"Don't stretch your eyes like that...yennoda veetla yen parent sum irukaanga."he hurriedly explained..before her wild imaginations fly to sky..

"Unga parents ungala thappaa ninaika mataangala sir..?"

"Adhellam onnum ninaika mataanga.unnakku ok dhaane..?"

"As if I left with any choice.."she muttered under her breath..

"Yenna?"

"Ok dhaan sir..."
