...she wasn't overexposed?
She has been judging Jhalak Dikhlaja on telly for years now, and does quite a few ads as well. People get to see her a lot on TV, so it's unlikely that they would pay to watch her on the big screen.

Sri Devi, who was her biggest rival in the late 80s/early 90s, had a very successful comeback with English Vinglish. Although she is often seen at page 3 parties, the general public doesn't constantly see her on the small screen, and thus she still has an an air of mystery around her.

I really feel that Dedh Ishqiya (a fairly decent film) would have received a better response if we didn't see Madhuri on the small screen this often.
Do you think she still has a future in Bollywood?

I believe each actor and actress has their time, their fame, and their shining moment. Be it Madhuri, Rani, Kajol, Karisma, or even Sridevi...they will not be accepted anymore. Sridevi had a great comeback, but where is she now? We don't even hear of her anymore. She was raving only when EV came out.

Its sad because these actress mentioned above knew the arts of acting. And no matter how many movies they try to come in now, they just won't work. Rani was phenomenal in Mardaani...when the movie released she was in the news...now its all quiet.

Times have changed and people have moved on.

Nah...her small screen presence is like promoting herself for the second innings IMO ...coz of that audience expected her to do movies...But somehow her come back movie didn't get appreciated coz of the content of the movie ?

She definitely proved herself to be very conceited fake lady in JDJ.
Perhaps that's why it's difficult to accept her presence anywhere, small screen or big screen or off-screen.
What a talented actress she was until 90s... now it's a criminal wastage of talent, thanks to her personality.

About madhuri-fatiques due to JDJ and so n in TV just played the small part. IMHO, her comeback movie lack of charm due to choppy directing and editing. I will watch EV anyday rather than repeat back Aaja Nachle and DI or Gulaab Gang. She should be careful when she was offered Aaja nachle last time. Too bad I like that movie but the direction is not extraordinary for a comeback from great legend.

madhuri's films didnt have it to be hit
dedh ishqiya was an awesome film
but it lacked mass appeal
it was gloomy and complicated
the music failed, the first ishqiya had hit music
english vinglish was a feel good sweet film,
it appealed to both masses and classes.
i dont think madhuri's jhalak exposure had
anything to do with it.
she was not a jhalak judge when aaja nachle released
but it still failed at box office.

Madhuri is over-exposed = yes.
But that is not the reason why her last 2 films did not fair very well. Although I have not seen Dedh Ishqiya, it had decent reviews, and did ok business for a small film.

But I did watch Gulaab Gang and it was TERRIBLE - the worst Madhuri film ever. So tragic, what on earth was she thinking? Who would have thought Juhi Chawla would over-shadow her, ever?

Not really..Aaja Nachle tanked and she was not even overexposed during that time.
